Now we have a server up and running and an officially supported flight sim section i thought it would be best if we had a short list of server rules that pilots need to follow.  Don't worry we wont be expecting people to use the vocabulary and etiquette of real life pilots but there are a few things that you need to bear in mind when flying with other simmers.

Ive broken the list up into 3 separate areas, Ground (taxi-ing, Take off), in flight (gear up, cruising approach/landing) and other.

Ground

When joining the server and others are already online or youv'e arranged to meet some people at an airport, make sure that noone is at the same gate that you are about to 'spawn' on, just give the other pilots a heads up on TS or in game chat before you join. If noone is on the server then obviously this isn't an issue.

When taxi-ing, make sure that you actually use the taxi ways please.  A 747 taxi-ing all over the grass looks rather silly and is simply not what happens.  The only thing we have to remember with this is that depending on what scenery people are running, the taxi ways at certain airports may be slightly different on your screen to what theother pilots see.

Only 1 aircraft is to be on any 1 runway at a time.  Do not venture on to a runway that is already occupied by another pilot.  Collisions do work on the server and it can be quite annoying when you have to reload your game because someone has run into you.

if you are holding short of a runway and waiting for someone to take off make sure that they are at least halfway down the runway before lining up.

In Flight

I goes without saying but make sure your not too close to another aircraft.  If someone is close to you they may not have seen you, just give them a heads up on TS or in game chat to make them aware.  In other words call out other  traffic if necessary.

Do not 'buzz' people.  We are not on a Top Gun film set. Do not deliberately fly closely in front of people to annoy them. The only exception to this might be when you perhaps want to take a screenshot or a short video clip of you and your mate, but both pilots must agree beforehand.

When on approach, make sure you are not too close to anyone landing at the same airport and also make sure the runway is free before landing.  If other users are close by just let them know of your intentions to land.

Once you have landed, try and leave the runway at your earliest opportunity, especially if you are in a party doing a hop for example.

If you need to abort a landing and there are other people in the area, let them know that you are having to 'go around' so that they don't just presume you have landed.

Other

Do not pause your game unless its absolutely necessary.  There will be times when you need to, like if you have a phone call for example.  Do not pause your game to gain an advantage, for example if you find that you are too close to another aircraft in front of you on approach, don't pause to increase the gap between you and the aircraft in font of you, turn and restart your approach or 'go around'.

When using FSHost there is an option to 'move to players location' i.e. spawn on another player. Only use this option if the player you are spawning on is happy for you to do so and only do so if the player is in the air (i.e. at cruising altitude). Do not spawn on other players when they are on the ground or at low altitude.

A lot of the above is just common sense and common courtesy towards other pilots.

Most of all have fun and if you have any queries either ask me or one of the admins.
