Ah but how long do Wookies live for? Maybe they live for centuries hence Chewie still being relatively young.

Edit - in fact after a quick Google, Wookies do indeed live for around 400 years.Therefore Chewie's still youthful appearance is perfectly normal.

Life cycle
Wookiees were a long-lived people, with a lifespan of several standard centuries.
