Rather than sweat and toil over this I'm throwing up my first pass at the PACT announcement. It's better to pull it apart now that let me spend ages on it and then disembowel it

QuoteLadies and gentlemen,

A couple of items to bring to your collective attention.

Organisation and Leadership

TL:DR - Oldie has stepped down as Star Citizen Game Leader.

First after some discussion Oldie has decided that leadership of a game as potentially large and complex as Star Citizen is a role that he does not wish to take on permanently. He kindly stepped up as we created the dMw Organisation to be interim leader. So thanks Oldie for getting the ball rolling and setting the Organisation up for us.

Therefore we have looked long and hard amongst our membership for the ideal candidate to lead us into the great unknown and to guide us as we carve out our fortunes in the Star Citizen universe. We need someone with dazzling charisma who is deeply loved and respected by the dMw community. They need to show a level of intelligence bordering on the genius coupled with strong leadership and a resolute nature so that the plebs (you lot) will be willing to call ‘Master’.

After a very short search one name became the only serious option and so with no more ado I would like to welcome you to your new Star Citizen Game Leader…… ME!

Joking aside I’m taking on the role but in the spirit of setting up the dMw Org  as a corporate  entity I’ll effectively be the CEO of a board comprising Oldie, TeaLeaf, Obsydian and myself. However as is the case with all the games we play as a community leadership will a relatively laid back set up and as always we will be an inclusive, relaxed and fun guild/clan/organisation to be apart of.

Soon we’ll be all getting together to set up an internal structure and to choose roles and responsibilities for those who want them.

PACT Membership

TL:DR _ We’ve joined the PACT collective which gives us membership of a large and powerful collective of Organisations and which opens up all kinds of new possibilities and options in the Star Citizen universe. PACT membership has conditions which we will be mandatory for anyone wishing to be in the dMw Organisation. No piracy of any kind, no exceptions. No attacking of PACT members ever no matter what.

For a while now we have been in conversation with a group known as PACT. This is a collection of Organisations that have come together in order to enjoy the larger scale activities planned for SC which lie beyond the scope of a single Organisation. PACT also offers collaboration, support and protection and basically a way for us to enjoy all the Star Citizen has to offer within a group that is numbered in the hundreds (and possibly by now thousands) of players while still enjoying being firstly and foremostly part of our own smaller close knit dMw community.

Most importantly the guys and girls in PACT have a very similar attitude to us in how they play games and plan to enjoy Star Citizen. They have a mature attitude and are looking to play fair and make the game as much fun for themselves and for the rest of the Star Citizen community as possible. This fits perfectly with our own community standards.

We have applied for membership to PACT which turns out to be no easy thing to achieve. We’ve filled out an extensive questionnaire, TeaLeaf in the role of dMw Ambassador has had a lengthy   email exchange with PACTS leaders. Finally TL and I spent an hour on TS being grilled by a dozen current members of PACT. I’m happy to say we were unanimously accepted by PACT. PACT is a very democratic group and so we now sit on their board and have a full equal vote in PACT activities.

Membership of PACT will provide us with some powerful allies and trading partners right from the beginning of our Star Citizen journey. Some of the larger PACT organisations plan on carving out territories in ‘zero’ space. We will benefit from safe passage through these systems. Other benefits include:

  • Trading rights and agreements with other PACT organisations.
  • Mutual protection given and provided anywhere in the Star Citizen universe.
  • Large scale joint operations providing the ability for our smaller Org to take part in much larger events, battles etc than we could achieve on our own.
  • Opportunities to joint crew ships.
  • Access to player owned space stations/facilities
  • Assistance building  and protecting our own facilities etc.
  • Membership of the PACT board allowing us to be part of the decision making process within PACT and allowing us an equal ability to influence and shape the community going forward.

However membership of PACT does come with some requirements that we will all need to take note of and agree to.

Firstly and foremostly ‘No Piracy’. This is a core part of the PACT agreement. Piracy, ganking, griefing etc are not allowed. Membership of subsidiary Organisations that either engage in or support piracy is not allowed.

Second we need to look out for other PACT members. Obviously if we expect the rest of PACT to come help us if we get into trouble we need to provide that assistance ourselves. So if we see PACT members in trouble we’re duty bound to come to their assistance. We don’t have to go on a suicide run and lose our ship in a futile effort to save a PACT comrade but if we can help and make a difference we should.

Third we will be asked to participate in larger PACT operations. While there will be no mandatory ‘you must attend or else’ nonsense, we do need to be active and to get involved with the planning and execution of missions, ops or attacks etc. This larger scale activity is going to be an amazing part of Star Citizen (according to Chris Roberts) and so we’re obviously not going to miss out on this kind of game content.

So membership of PACT does come with some conditions. However they are actually the same conditions that we apply to our own dMw members. We have never supported griefing in any form in any of the games we play. Therefore there are no real additional restrictions on game play through membership of PACT, just lots of benefits.

Non compliance

TL:DR - if you don’t want to be part of PACT and play to their and more importantly our standards, then that’s absolutely fine, just go enjoy the game somewhere else.

Of course some dMw community members might want to play Star Citizen as a pirate. You buy the game you buy your own PC and so clearly we can’t start dictating to you how you play your games. However we can dictate how they are played in the dMw community and as part of the dMw Organisation and always have since the days of early Counter Strike. So if you are planning on being a pirate then have fun and good luck, you’re just not going to be doing it as part of the Star Citizen dMw Organisation.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

TeaLeaf

I've copied this to the shared google drive that you all have access too and added some suggested edits/comments.

.......and apologies for the editing, I get carried away with words

I added an appendix bit at the end and accepted edits etc to tidy it up.   Now looks good and ready to post imo.
