What's your budget?  At 1920x1080 you'll have quite a wide range of options.   Something like an AMD R9 Nitro 380 4GB (not the 2GB) would do nicely, available for roughly £160-170.  It's more than capable of running most games at that resolution with the knobs turned up to close to (if not at) maximum.

Keep in mind that whilst you can get way better graphics cards by spending a bunch more money, the performance of some games will be limited by your CPU, so I'd not plan to spend much more than £160-170 unless you were going to also upgrade the CPU/mobo as well.

The R9 380 4GB is a nice combo of performance and value imo.  I've got a couple of 380's in different systems and they do really well (both running at x1440, so x1080 should be even better).

If you prefer nVidia then look at the GeForce GTX 960 range.   4GB versions are about the same price and perform at about the same level generally.  The 960 has a slightly better memory clock and pixel rendering rate, but loses out to the 380 in Shader performance, floating point and texture mapping.  I've got no direct experience of the 960 though, so can't really comment beyond that comparison.

Hope this helps.

With those specs and that screen I'd go for either the R9 380 or the GTX 960. There really is nothing to choose between them, the 380 has (very!) slightly better raw performance but the 960 draws less power and is quieter as a result - so go with your preference.
