Hi Folks,

I spotted Tutonic playing this yesterday and having enjoyed the previous games in this franchise I decided to his opinion on the game.

Basically most people are really enjoying this game, the graphical quality is good but strains your GPU at highest quality. People are complaining about lip sync being comical. They are also complaining about DLC being a one time use of your first save/ run through of the game, also that they try to entice you to buy resources with micro transactions in the single player game.

I'd be interested in hearing from others who have bought the game (Rogue Taylor I see has it) and if anyone has read a good review other than IGN.

I'm on the verge of buying it but reluctant because of the couple of negative points. Making me think wait for price drop.

Cheers,

Bert

QuoteDLC being a one time use of your first save/ run through of the game, also that they try to entice you to buy resources with micro transactions in the single player game.

This right here is the reason why I shall not buy the game.  I love DX, even DX2, but I'm not going to buy a SP game with micro transactions.  Some will say just ignore them, but if a dev is cheeky enough to do that, and then screw me over with the dlc/pre order bonuses bound to a single save, well, screw you back squeenix.

Talk with the wallet.  That's how you say that this sort of BS is not acceptable.

There are two parts to the DLC - consumables (money, crafting parts and Praxis points which upgrade the augs) which are one time only and persistent ones like weapons, skins and augmentations, which are available on every playthrough. I've got a friend on my Steam friends list who has been playing it and the consumable microtransactions seemed to be aimed at people who was to get quick access to the high end augs/purchases, rather than being the only way to actually play the game properly.

So, whilst I agree with Gorion that the whole concept is a bit crap, neither is it a deal breaker for me. I'll just ignore the microtransactions when I finally get some free time to play the game.

Keep in mind that save file loss/corruption is still a thing.  If that happens, it's money down the drain.

Whatever you purchase should be there each time a new game is started.  We're not buying a of soda here.

What's next? Insert coin each time you die, or a game valid for a single playthrough?  Each time these kind of devs get away with something of the sorts, the more chance there is that next time they are going to try something new to screw you over.

Plus, these weren't in the review games, which make it stink more.

Speaking as someone who has actually played the game, ahem, so far all I can say is that I haven't noticed the presence of DLC in any way.

If it's there, it's certainly not making it's presence felt in a way that effects my enjoyment of the game (which so far is excellent btw).

I actually bought the deluxe pack, and I still have all the stuff in the "storage" because I just didn't need it :)
for people who might want to start the game feeling a bit like a continue from last game, meaning that you want to have extra weapons and augs since you finished the last game pretty op, I get it but for the rest of us.. just dont buy the deluxe :)
The extra story mission was ok, but hoping that the rest that come will be a bit longer.
and the rest is cosmetic or fluff that I just liked to have:D

The game itself is fun, it gives you a bit more ways to solve the missions than the last game and I enjoy it thus far, I'm at the 11th mission.

The microtransactions part I don't get, because as I understood it the game will have the option for new game+ again that lets you start over with all you augs if you wanted to be a total badass from the get-go, but as always there will be people not wanting to spend too much time on a game and that have the money to spend on making it easier or a better experience for themselves through paying for it, and that is fine by me as long as the game doesn't "promote" you to use the feature or "force" you through being too difficult, and DXMD does not do that at all!

I recommend getting the game, if you liked the last one then you'll like this one, or as always there's going to be a sale at some point so put it in your wishlist because it is worth your time :)
