I have the X-55 which is very good but if you have smaller hands you might struggle with it.

56 got slammed because of QC and build quality issues. Unless its free I would avoid.

So not much change apart from the 2 mini sticks on both controllers then really.  A good review though, worth watching.

It's pretty much the same as the 55 by the sounds of it.

I would recommend picking up 2 x T16000 Thrustmaster sticks and using one in each hand for SC. I posted a very detailed video by a guy who extensively tested many variations of controller setup and concluded that analogue is king and 2 fulls size sticks is most versitile.

Throttles are so unnecessary and a waste of money.

It's more to note an update note for the X-55.   Personally I'd use a throttle for a flight sim really, but they will clearly work in SC/Elite too.

I can't comment on other games but in SC the most accurate control is still via mouse and keyboard. To be honest sticks and throttles etc. are really for immersion as much as anything else. Clearly CIG will continue tweaking stuff as Star Citizen develops and keep claiming the game will be controller agnostic at some point, but there's little sign of that becoming a reality yet. Serious AC players drop gimbals, go fixed and up one size and use mouse and keyboard IMHO.

That being said the X55 & 56 look very smart. If people are upgrading to 56's then hopefully there will be plenty of second hand 55's washing about on eBay soon for me to snag one :D

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I find the throttle is nearly redundant in games where accurate speed is necessary. You can step through speed levels 10% at a time easier and more accurately and you get more benefit from more analogue sticks in space.

Pitch, Yaw on the main joystick XY. Roll and thrust up and down and back on the secondary hand main joystick, yaw and roll interchangeable. The combination of throttle and thrusters increases control dramatically in both SC and Elite, my opinion of course, everyone is different.

I suggest to anyone considering a 200 quid hotas purchase try 60 on two ambidextrous joysticks first and decide. I probably spent more time than most trying different setups and spent the cash already just to find the Throttle unnecessary.

Space sims control is very different from flight sim.

Yeah but with 2 yoks you can't slam on the breaks and watch them fly right by

Sure you can. Just have to use different controls.
