I think there's a general consensus that we should be adding dMw into the name of our ships. For those who do not know, you can name your ship at the planet base in 47 Tartalon. One of the options is to rename your ship and add a decal to the hull.

Most of us have been able to grab a username that matches our dMw clan tag or get something close. However some of us with popular names (i.e. Liberator) haven't and have had to choose something else. So the ship name can be used to add our game name if required i.e. 'Zhadum, dMw_Liberator'. This makes it easy for us to identify each other in game.

Another option is to just use the dMw tag as the ship name i.e. 'Smilodon, dMw' or 'TL, dMw'.

Finally we can add a fun name for our ship combined with the clan tag i.e. Snooks, dMw_Jabberwocky. The choice is ours.

Another very useful reason to have dMw in our ship name is that it instantly broadcasts to players that we are part of a large group. The sight of five or six players all wearing the same Squadron name protecting a mining ship or three is going to look far more intimidating than a random group of Cylon players who may or may not be in a group and working together to protect a mine.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Very good point, adding tag to my ship names now :D

Cake: Four large eggs. One cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. Three/four cups butter or margarine. One and two third cups granulated sugar. Two cups all purpose flour. Fish shaped ethyl benzene. Twelve medium geosynthetic membranes. Three tablespoons rhubarb, on fire.

Liberator

It makes a hell of an impact, we already refer to certain factions in the human side by their tags.

They are Tete_Brulee, 7th_CF and Crazy_Turks.

Soon they will hopefully be thinking the same about us.

You can get  to "47 Tartalon" by standard jumping, or you can be sent straight there by the Sharron in the BaseStar if you ask to buy a new hull.

You will see an option in the speech menu for renaming your ship.

Common sense is not a gift, it`s a punishment
As you have to deal with everyone who does not have it...

Penfold

There's different options mentioned. Which, if any, would be the first choice and what would be the second choice (if first is not possible due to popular name etc)?

Thanks

I don't think ships names need to be unique. In fact I think you can call all your ships by the same name? Several of us have dMw as our ship name so I also don't think thy need to be unique to a player either. We seem to be adopting the naming convention

dMw or dMw_xxxxxxxxx

Names are all upper case in BSO but a capitalisation does make the letter larger so the dMw effect still sort of works. Whether you choose to add a name for your ship or just stick with dMw is a matter of personal choice, unless liberator want's to use a different format?

Liberator

I'm happy with the suggested formatting, of course standard dMw rules apply and no offensive or rude wording, the dMw at the beginning of the ship name is readable enough without being too restrictive.
