Quote from: Aquilifer;430687In what way does this affect the game or what does not 'support' mean in this case? Because dMw doesn't have to (or even can) keep a server for this, isn't the required effort rather small compared to many other. I hope it doesn't mean nobody plays this anymore.

I still play and I have done all my mission to dMw in ZTA as before.

Glad to hear it.. Are you at DmW's discord server? I've been in there keeping what remains of DmW's ED community up to date.

What makes a game 'supported' differs dependant on the specific game in question and it's own game mechanics etc. A MMO like World of Warcraft would be run very differently to something like CS:GO. But basically a Supported game has  a Game Leader and possibly some Game Admins, a server if required, maybe a Discord Channel and/or dedicated forum. Basically the dMw community puts in some effort, resource and occasionally money if required (to rent a server for example). The Game Leader/Admins might organise specific activities and events within the game, plan raids, manages player roles, create or provide maps or missions and generally and actively promote the game within the community. Basically someone puts in work and effort to provide an enjoyable gaming experience depending on the specific game and it specific requirements.

A non supported game is one where members of the community play the game in question, but nothing 'official' is organised by the dMw and we provide no specific resources, money or server space for the game. Some games we play quite a bit but don't officially support.... or that just don't need official support, include World of Tanks, World of Warships, TF2, Minecraft and L4D2. Over the years we've supported many games that have grown to be very popular but eventually have declined in numbers as new games take their place. There are actually only a handful of games - CS:GO, Arma 3, Racing and WOW that have lasted over the long term.

ED is a game that basically doesn't have a large enough player base within the dMw to warrant being officially supported. But there are certainly dMw'ers who do play it just like there are still people playing GTAV, GW2, TF2 etc.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I've archived the Gold, Red and Green Elite Badges, as Elite is no longer a supported game. I'm happy to leave the forum here, but if there's no activity here I'll move the forum out to the Games of Old Section

Leaving it here might get some people to show interest, especially new members.

Moving it to the archive would zero the visibility of the game.  Perhaps we should have a Space Sim section which would contain subsections of Elite and SC?

That's a good idea. As I said I'll happily leave the Elite forum here as it does as you say, advertise it's existence. Much like how the Star Citizen forum is a placeholder for when that game finally launches rather than being active with posts.

My only concern is having a message board with lots of dead forums showing zero activity. It's not a good advert for anyone coming to the dMw website for the first time. One or two forums for nostalgiaor for games that we're on hiatus from (WOW) is fine, but not too many.

Sort of off topic, when I came back after my 5 years away I noticed how quite a few sections of the forum had not been posted in for a long period of time which was a bit disheartening.

The bricks and mortar section at the top of the message board is by design not regularly updated as it mainly information. Console games is the only forum with a last post date of 2017 and pah that's console games, who cares :D

'Web Development' is a bit of an oddity and maybe I should retire it. Everything else is April or May 2018 which is good.

*coughs* not many people see that one, it can be retired.
