The missus needs a new laptop, her current one struggles at the moment and runs a bit slow. She doesn't do any high-spec gaming but just uses it to browse, do Zoom/Skype calls, Facebook, some internet based games and word processing.

I've found this one for £500 ASUS Vivobook, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 15.6 Inch Notebook. Any good?

Or do those in the know have any other recommendations?
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

If most stuff is being done in a web browser and no one is terribly Google averse then a Chromebook might be an option. You can get something very decent with 8 - 10 hrs battery life for two to three hundred quid. The one I have which is several years old cost £299 and still works fine for me. I use Google Drive and Docs extensively and am not trying to run any Office/Microsoft stuff.

Could save a few hundred quid if it fits the bill. HP, Dell, Asus, Levono and Acer are the main brands to look at.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Ooooh that doesn't look too shabby at all Sithy. Shame they haven't discount the 17" version by the same amount though.

Anyone got any feedback on this for Sithy?

Kinda tempted myself tbh :-)

Do we get a massive discount then Sithy :flirty:

Michaelanio had some good experience with an MSI gaming laptop, so he might be worth asking.   Never had an MSI laptop myself, but I have heard good reports from people who have.

Shame about the .de Albert, I saw a similar case with Amazon India having a phenomenal price on some Sennheizers but alas, only available there...

Sorry for late checking of the thread
Yeah used to have a MSI laptop and was happy with it and didn't experience any issues with it, that I recall anyway
Hope the laptop turns out to be good for you guys.
Maybe there\'s something to be said for being different. We are who we are. What more could we ask for?

My old MSI is a rock of a machine, totally reliable, fast, bit noisey due to the 780m but really quite amazing to be running 7 years later. I think I would have no issue buying an upgrade if I needed it.

Bit of a shame it's only got a 256 SSD though as the rest of the specs looks great.
