Steam server unavailable!

Anyone else getting this message when starting Steam?  :unsure:
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Ah now it works. Why oh why oh why do these things always sort themselves out just after I post it on the forum?  :whistle:

Hmm, I thought it was working as steam started updating and now it fails with could not connect to steam network check your internet connection  :(
Could this be a cunning ploy by Valve to get my post up?  <_<

Have you tried going "offline" and then joining the server?

Can't get steam to load to go offline. I've tried deleting my blob file and it seems to update ok, but then when I login it fails.
