Problem: Thief 3

Wasn't sure if I should post this in the games section or here, but nvm....

Having a problem right at the beginning of the game.  After level 1 where I've stolen the bloodline opal, I know I have to give it to the fence (Bertha).  I do this, leave the building, and nothing happens.   I then wandered around for ages trying to work out what to do, to no avail.

So I read a walkthrough on the web (several in fact).  All said that after I sell the opal (I just clicked "sell all" in the trade window) and leave the fence I should get a new note saying to go to the church.  But I never get this.

Have tried installing and uninstalling.  Have patched the game.  Have played through twice now and nowt happens.

Any ideas?

Go to the church is right. As you leave the Fence you should suddenly find you have received a note, get a little discovery tune and an on screen message that says "Received note". It instructs you to go to the church. If you check your objectives it should be there. I don't think you have to actually find the note on the floor or anything, a few paces from Bertha's door it just appears in your objectives list.

You said you "sold all" is there an option to just sell the specific OPAL thing to this person?

I had the same as Smilo, left the tart, then a coupla steps outside and I got the note..

crap game anyway...

Reinstall it, it sounds like yours is borked.
