I'm wanting to take out certain lines of an mp3... for an example the song "everybody dance now" ... i want to take out the everybody dance now line and make it into an MP3 itself, so i can then put it on my phone and have it as a text message sound...

but i dont know of any free software and not finding any.

Dont suppose anyone here happens to know of any?

Thanx

Sound forge is a good editing package, its not free but there is a demo version available to trial. (may not record or save though). Also look for cool edit pro which I think is freeware.

Go to www.tucows.com and look in their multimedia section you should be able to find an editor there.

I don't think Cool Edit Pro is freeware, but I could be wrong.  IIRC, the closest to freeware it came was CoolEdit96 (which you can still find out there), which allows you to do up to two functions at one time (usually one of them being SAVE).

If you go the route of CEdit, you'll have to convert the mp3 to wave, edit it as a wav and then mp3 it again.  It is a great program and I believe Adobe actually bought the CoolEdit line two years ago now.
