Hi Guys,

As most of you know I have been having PC heat problems..

So I stripped the bugger down and dusted it off! you wouldnt believe the amount of dust. :poster_oops:

Anyhoo, I put it back together as normal but now the problem

I have all the wires plugged in the right places and when I switch the power on I get a green light on the MB but I can not for the life of me work out where the little coloured wires should go, these are the ones that come from the front of the case attached to the power button.

I have

Asus A8N-SLI, nForce4 SLI,Socket-939
ATX,S-ATA, GbLAN,Firewire,DDR, PCI-Ex16
Cooler Master Cavalier 3 Black

I tried reading the user guide for the motherboard but it reads like half french half mexican to me.
And the Case user guide says see your motherboard guide..

Could someone please help me.

Got pictures?
It might help if people see the picture and your cables.

Each of the pins should have a few letters on them to let you know what they are. eg PWR, or RT SW etc. Depends who made your case though. Some only have colours which makes the process considerably harder.
If they have letters it's relatively painless. Find the picture in your manual of the big clump of pins and match the letters to the section of pins. Sometimes it's even written on the motherboard so you don't need the manual. Have you looked really closely?

If I have found the right one, it is this:

PLED is the power showing the PC is on
PWRSW is the power on/off switch
IDE_LED is the harddisk activity LED
RESET is.. RESET :)

Anyhoo, check the cables in your case and find the ones with names identical (or almost similar to these).

Now, sit near your motherboard in the same way this is on the picture so you can easily plug them in. Looking at this picture, you have to connect the power LED cable to the two pins top left HORIZONTALLY. Next to that, horizontally, the power switch. And so on. Just remember horizontal.

Also, just follow the drawing and just ignore if the power switch cable is made only for two pins (the drawing shows three pins). Just try the center and left pin, if that doesn't work, try the center and right pin.

Hope it helps.

For power switch, reset and HDD it is in the bottom right hand corner.  there is a little white peices of plastic, there are pins sticking up.  In very small writing eact on is labeled for you mate.

The pin outage is the same as the your one mate.

Hope that helps
