gonna try it with the 25k,100,100 next time see if it runs better... n1
Why?

The three MH servers are capped at a rate of 15000 so you wont get more than that. Additionally the max for the other two rates is 60 which hard coded into the half life engine.

edited to say that servers now seem to be at 15000 not 12500

OK I'll try and explain. Changing your rate setting to match the other servers will work. However, as I said the other two settings (cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate) are hard coded to a max of 60. Therefore, no matter which server you are playing on the max you can use is 60 (although you can set higher to lull yourself into believing that it is doing some good).

If you set 100 then you run the risk of actually making things worse because you start wasting information - the server won't accept some data packets it or deal with them.

I use hltoolz and let it set rates etc. Excellent and easy for the noobish like me. Easy access to a plethora of  other settings too. (google hl toolz i dont have a link to hand for it) hltoolz.com  < @a guess

DON'T go to hltoolz.com - you'll get swamped with popups and dialogs asking if they can reset your home page to whatever.

The link to hltoolz is below:

Oddly enough, I've played with rates etc. and having just read this I thought I'd check to see what they are currently set at. Guess what? 60 and 60. Now I have no recollection of setting them that low so.....................does CS reset them automatically? Message = Stop fiddling with stuff and accept you are crap!
