I bought the Netgear DG834G (v2) which includes an 802.11g wireless bit.
54mbps wireless, firewall, router, 4-port ethernet switch, etc, etc...

Cost me £94 to get it with a USB adapter, which I sold for £40(!!!) so it effectively cost £54

You can buy the dg834g unit for £70 now (ebuyer, overclockers, simply, etc) but the deal that includes the "free" adapter is still about £95-100

Very easy to set up, seems to work okay :D
Got my pc wired into one of the ethernet ports and my housemates laptop connecting wirelessly from the floor below at full, or close to full, rates.

that sounds pretty good. I was gonna ask about one that had wireless as well, but didnt want to complicate matters.

Just nee to get a wireless network adapter for the laptop.

Cheers suicidal_monkey that probably the jobby im looking for, unless someone knows something negative about that peice of kit.

Just put an order in for that router. Misses is going to kill me :S

hoefully get Broadband sometime in december :D

I have heared that wireless routers add latency/lag when playing online and should therefore be avoided.

for gaming purposes you might notice a little bit extra in your ping. My gaming pc is still hardwired to the ethernet switch on the dg834g :narnar:

I doubt you'd see that much of a difference between wired and wireless. +5-10ms perhaps onto the ping at the most assuming you have a decent link? Anyone who's using wireless to play games?
