Just wondered if anybody uses the auction house much as a buyer or seller. As an up and coming blacksmith, i would like to make some money. but i have no idea what sells and for how much.

If your still an early level backsmith, you would probably be best of selling copper bars. Thats if you want to make some gold. Best bet is to look at the auctions and see what stuff is selling for.

I dont think as blacksmiths you will make much gold untill you can make higher level Stuff. Im still in copper but low level users dont often have the fund to buy copper and the amount u make is pittance to the effort you have to put in (to make and then find a seller).

The auction house (AH) is much used.
If you consider selling weapon I would go for most damage or best extra addon (strenght etc). The bigger the better.

To upgrade your skill you should focus on only doing red or orange recipes. Yellow and green more rarely give you increased level. Grey will never give you an increase.

If you can make Iron Buckle I would be interested in about 20ish. Need them for leatherworking.

Another good stat to check is DPS (damage per second). It's not the be all and end all, as there are many other stats that effect damamge dealt out, but it's worth bearing in mind

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Skip Blacksmithing ang go Mining/Skinning instead and sell all you gather at the AH, Blacksmithing and Leatherworking are just money draines and you can always buy better stuff. Or just stick with your quest rewards.

You know youre gonna want the money when you hit 40   :)

I'm beginning to wonder about the idea of skinning and mining and not producing anything. I've pushed my skinning skills up to about 145 so I can skin most stuff I'm coming across. My leatherworking is at a bit over 100 and I can double and sometimes treble the amount I would get from raw materials alone. 6 x leather at 15 bronze each plus 3 x thread at 10 bronze is 1silver 20 bronze. But those parts makes an embossed leather vest plus a  medium armour patch, with +2 strength +1 stamina. I can sell that  for 20 silver. And it's criminal what my eight slot ammo pouches go for at auction! So think again when planning professions. Two trades may work early on but by the time you level into the high teens it may not be the cash cow it was?

My leatherworking is at 225 at the moment and skinning 270ish. The trick to improve your skills quickly is to go for the most difficult stuff all the time. In the case of leatherworking use only patterns that are red or orange. When skinning go for the highest level possible on the target.

by going for harder stuff, doesnt that increase the chance of failure and thus costing you more money?

Anyway, i ended up selling all my copper bars (96 bars), got about 32.5 silver for 20 bars. Sold like hotcakes. Ive almost got 2 gold at level 15, seems quite alot :)

I may ditch blacksmith skill and start skinning. Perhaps in the future I could create another character and pass all the copper and skins to him :)
