Hippy

Get a cheap one from Asda, you know it makes sense.

Doris

No no no.... wait for people to recommend a £50 keyboard that has all sorts of silly features you'll never use.  Make sure it isn't just called 'keyboard' but instead has a catchy name like KS 450 and comes with all sorts of words on the box you'll never see anywhere in life.

May i recommend this one.

Doris

so im guessing you got a £3 one fomr ASDA JB?

CLEAN IT

unplug it,
take it apart,
wash the contact sheets (you'll know what I mean when you've opened it) thoroughly,
use some sort of cleaning alcohol on any contacts that look particularly bad or burnt,
wash the plastic bits if they're sticky...
wait for it all to dry thoroughly,
put it back to gether carefully,
should be fine...

My keyboard has survived the process two or three times. Beer is far worse than wine to spill on it

...or, get one of these little beauties :)

:lmfao:

lets think about this, spend 30-60 minutes cleaning a 7 year old yearboard, or buy a new one for a quid (probably 5 with postage) :)

Wheres my screw driver.... :D

suicidal_monkey

I bought a new one when I spilt beer on mine the first time, but then the new (cheapish £9 model) one started to show signs of being rubbish and having sticking keys (extremely frustrating for CS I recall...) within 2 or 3 weeks so I cleaned up my (considerably more expensive) keyboard and it's still the one I use now (though it has gone through the cleaning routine a few more times)

Be environmentally friendly and don't chuck the old one out <_< or donate it to a charity that takes that sort of thing :)

Benny

I'd be well pleased at that charity.
Here, have an old knackered keyboard. While you're at it, here's some pants with a worn out gusset.

...in certain countries a refurbished keyboard might be rather welcome, though I agree not here in th UK where there are government funded estates of useless lazy thieving smackheads whose main pastime is whining about how they can no longer afford the tv license, pay for the car, and send their kids to university (read: their tolerances are up and alcohol and drugs cost more these days) all on their "measly" welfare cheques.

At least try to avoid adding the thing to the global pile of unwanted plastic and electronics. If you don't why should you expect anyone else to.

disclaimer: some generalisations may have been included in the previous rant. These generalisations may or may not be true

Considering my Local Council doesn't collect recyclable rubbish and underneath my stairs is 4 boxes full of paper/plastic/glass/tins, we do as much as we can (will try todo more). I would love to get some solar panels on my roof, beging south facing it would be ace, but on my salary I cant afford it.

Provisions for recycling in my area is rubbish (pardon the pun) :(

like others have said, ill give it a clean befor buying a replacement. Its done me proud for a good 5-6 years, no reason it shouldnt last abit longer :)
