Hi guys,

saw this interesting topic over at battlefield nation and thought you might be interested and or it might generate some interesting discussions here?

After reading the post I'm definitely all for the Loyalist idea, noob or not.

loyalist or individualist?

TeaLeaf

No question.  Loyalist.

Any lone wolves should be fed to the wolves.

Loyalist anytime.

On a note: A loyal n00b like the loyalist mentioned in the article seems a bit atypical to me. Whenever I play with 'loyal' players they are generally experienced players.

Hippy

you find them in CS too, the loyal noob who tags along...gets annoying when you want to be quiet and theyre running around switching weapons...

I imagine what theyre think whilst staring at the floor:

*oooh a gun, 30 bullets... oohhh another gun..50 bullets...actually i liked the look of the other gun better, whered it go? oh no im dead. "HACKER!!!!"*

Penfold

Loyalist for sure..... that is except when I'm playing with OB when it's far, far safer to be as far away from him as possible  :P

Very interesting. and I must admit I join squads on our server just for the voice coms even if I plan to spend a map in a chopper or there are only 6 of us in the whole team, so we have to split up. I still always try to be goal orientated. but some times a null squad is to many to accomplish a simple task.

What about running a teamspeak server along side the BF2 voice coms. this way we can have smaller squads, trying to stick together. but still have some of the aimless banter we all enjoy when playing on the dmw servers :)

 :withstupid:

Flying around is my prefered method of travel, but I do like to pick up peeps and take them to the objective of the squad or provide air cover.

The six man squad limit is a pain for the global comms as knowing what the other squads are up to is essential and if your squad leader is mute you just don't get the feedback.

Being out on your own in your own squad can also be frustrating as you are usually sent into firefights when the best option would be to send you on your own to take the easy bases. Again we come to the "we are all still learning the game" statement, but its frustrating none the less.

I class myself as a "loyalist" mainly because I count the teamplay score as one of the most important of the stats screens.

I've died many times trying to revive squad members as a medic in the pursuit of the objective (usually after I've revived them and they are needed more than I am), and keeping the squad leaders alive is paramount as then the rest of the squad can respawn on them at the objective.

I would wager that ALL replies are "loyalist"

BIG Dewey is new to the community and has come to us via BF2...so probably hasn't realised that the whole ethos of dMw is to be loyalist, or team orientated.

BIG Dewey....this is your home m8...welcome 8)

PS get CZ :P

I have never seen a dMwer not in a squad or lone-wolfing....apart from the times when you have to spawn away from your squad.

I for one am very pleased that BF2 has enlarged our community... 8)

BIG-Dewey and I ( - BIG-Ranger - ) have been chatting about this for some time, partially because, maybe, we come from Novalogic's 'Joint Operations'.

You may have not have heard of this game, so the short decription may be 'the poor man's BF2'!

However, there is little encouragement in JO to be 'squad/team minded'. So at times you can have up to 150 'lone wolves' running around a huge map!

...This is why we were so excited about moving over to BF2.

I get a huge kick out of both working as a team-member, and even through following orders ( I get very frustrated with squad leaders who forget to give orders...You guys may have noticed this if you played on the dMw server with me the other night. I somehow was squad leader and constantly issued orders - sorry if that got irritating! ).

So yes - I'm a loyalist, and yes - that's exactly why I got interested in dMw!

(Dewey and I made a search of the web and looked at a few BF2 gaming groups and thier 'mission statements' before landing here!)

Hi Blunt,

Thanks m8, it is starting to feel like home and thanks for making us feel so welcome - its things like that that are the difference between DMW and the majority of other clans and communities. Though I must apologise for not having been on your server since I started posting on here. I will definitely be on some time this week, hopefully along with Ranger and BIG Paddy.

Its no accident either myself or Ranger arrived at DMW, we did quite a bit of research first, before joining - and it was your team ethos that decided this is where we want to be :)

I have been to other servers/sites but prefer dmw. The gaming is great and, most of all, you are funny people! Only dmw players joke, laugh and mock each other that much, even in-game. That is really nice :)

LOL - I knew I was joining a good team when I did my first stint as squad leader on dMw...

I told my crew to 'attack this position' - to which I got the reply '...you're having a laugh aren't you?!?!?'

LMAO

...Well - that told me!

Fantastic bunch for putting up with my flakey leadership!

:)
