Not being negative....(lest everyone shout at me) and I haven't d'ld the demo.

Should I? Is it leaps and bounds different to the original? Is it more of the same? What's so good?

I only ask as there is lot's I want to try and I won't get round to all of it. (Especially now FIFA06 has reared it's head - FatBob - get it and I'll play you online)

So, there are a few things I want, I want to know if this is one of them?

Here's the science (or review)
"The sequel to the award-winning Call of DutyTM, Call of Duty 2 is powered by a proprietary new engine featuring striking new visuals, advanced A.I. technology, the most realistic squad combat and explosive action in new historic campaigns.

Call of Duty 2 lets players experience four individual soldier stories as they overcome insurmountable odds in multiple campaigns. Players have the freedom to follow each of the four storylines through for the ultimate character-driven experience, or they can engage in the historic battles chronologically for quick hitting action.

Squads now have the freedom to take on a variety of mission objectives, on expansive battlefields that allow for multiple paths and the ability to utilize actual combat tactics like outflanking and fire and maneuver capabilities.

Call of Duty 2's new engine and A.I. technology set the stage for authentic squad combat and astonishing action. Concealment can be key as battlefield smoke or even deployed smoke grenades cloud visibility. Weather effects such as the dusty sandstorms of North Africa and whiteout blizzard conditions of Russia, for example, will keep soldiers glued to their bunkers. The team has also employed a state-of-the-art Battle Chatter System that brings the action to life as squad-mates bark out context-sensitive updates in real-time to players through an advanced A.I. system."

That's the official blurb but in my opinion (biased I know and from the demo) it's a game where you become immersed...... it's real and raw and gritty and has a tension that I just didn't feel in BF2........you almost want to write a letter home to your loved one telling them you'll see them soon but never knowing if you will be the next soldier to have a bullet with your name on it, and feel relief and pray to God that you have survived!!

This is the real deal Benny, and your life will be unfulfilled without it, a yawning chasm, which no amount of FIFA, BF2 or WOW could ever fill....

and the good news is you even have a home to play it online

I really think ya should d/l the demo and take a peak yourself ....you know what ya like so you can make your own mind up ...for the sake of the 1/2 hour to play the demo it really is worth the effort just to see what ya think ...me personally I prefer it to BF2 because it is infantry based like CS ..but the graphics are waaaay better even than source IMHO and like the blurb says you get emersed in the feel of what the soldiers were experiencing ....(theres even dust flying from the walls which takes time to settle as the bullets rip through them  8) ) ...I really liked it, but don't just take my word for it try out the demo .....gowan ...ya know ya wanna !!! ;)
I really was not born to work ALL my life !!!!!

Glad I found this thread - was just looking at CoD2 on Play.com and was going to post a thread to say 'do any of teh dMw guys know anything about this game?' - LOL apparently you do!

Make a nice change from BF2 - Like the idea of the North Africa campaigh (my dad was in the 8th Army).

...Can you choose to be a Briitish soldier from teh outset or do you play all three types - Americam, British and Russian - as teh game progresses?

Ta!

Have my copy ordered.

You start of as Russian and then progress to British and then probably American (I'm currently playing the desert compaign).  The graphics are ok on my 9800 Pro but I can't have any detail/AA turned on, It must look great on a good card though.

A Twig

Slightly OT: FIFA '06 Benny? Its all about Pro Evo surely!!!

AYe, I've got Pro Evo on the PS2, and Fifa on the PC.

I prefer Pro Evo but it's kinda boring on your own..
