I think I have heard about your style, at least read about it.

Shaolin - I was tought a single day on a course by a 10th dan Shaolin style Sensei from Copenhagen. Little guy, from China originally, can't remember his name. He has a club in Cph. We did some katas, something I don't do much normally (apart from weapons of course, we only have two short ones in the kyu-curriculum, in dan grades we have, well, about 5 non-weapons katas from 1-5 dan) and it was great fun.

Is it a big club? We are about 80 in total, of which 50 is in the ju-jitsu division. Not that much compared to the clubs in the larger cities, but Slagelse, my city, doesn't really have room for that much. Especially with all the "new" arts popping up.

If you should ever want to get into ground based fighting you should go for Brazilian ju-jitsu. It is a branch of ju-jitsus develop by the Gracie family from Brazil and is derived from practical tests, rather than style and art. All locks are basic ju-jitsu locks so that you already know. It is not a perfect self defense system, i.e. much is based on fighting another guy in a gi, but imho the best for ground based fighting. It is still quite new to me - there are so few clubs and teachers of this in Denmark - but we suck in all the knowledge we can :D

Our club has around 50 members, so it is not a big club. There is another club in Valdres (southern part of Norway, smack in the middle of the mountains), but it is a bit smaller. We did have a club in Copenhagen, but the sensei, Jim Sindt, changed style. Some members of the style in Copenhagen might get a dojo up and running, but as for now we don't know yet.

There is an opportunity here in Bergen to do Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, so after (if) I pass the shodan, I think I'll spend a year (at least) training with them. I will of course still train in my karate club, but I will devote more time to instructing in 2006.
