Pah, obvioulsy neither of you are men of science and obviously are blind to the wonder that is "macroscopic quantum phemomenon"

Sadako was the cube formed from Sm Co5 or Sm2 Co17  :?:

SmCo5 ,  a very strong magnet indeed. Still have it and it works great.

Here is a movie I recorded (5.17 MB) of the superconductor and levitating magnet.

Quotethat's damn impressive! is that liquid N2 you're pouring in? i assume to be superconductive its gotta be pretty bloody cold!

Yup that is liquid nitrogen.  :D[/b]

.................-196 degrees.....and quite frankly I am appaled at the shoddy equipment you are using for the LN......have you never heard of proper flasks, cryogenic hoses with diffusers, cryogenic gloves, goggles and aprons? (not at all apparent in the picture....do you really want to encourage everyone to believe that your job is not at all risky and dangerous and that you are NOT in fact the James Bond of the Swedish Lab Rat Pack??)

Shame on you Sadako!!

Liquid nitrogen is rather safe to handle. You can pour it on your open hand as long you don't cup it and it wont hurt you. Liquid oxygen, methane or helium there is a whole other ball game and I would definitely wear some protective gear.

Sadako would be the man to explain this. But as he hasn't  dibbed in with an explaination......

Superconductors can be used to create Magnetic-levitation. Using it you can make trains float on strong superconducting magnets, which more or less eliminating friction between the train and its tracks. Not only would conventional electromagnets waste loads of the electrical energy in the form of heat, they would have to be enormous to create the magnetic levitation.

The Japs got a train to run at 350 odd miles an hour using superconducting technology   :!:

We even had commercial one running in Birmingham for a while. But is sent all the Brummies insane, due to evil magnetic biowaves, and ultimately led to someone thinking up the M42 motorway  8O

I didnt say that i didn't understand it. I just said it was a joke for geeks.   :P
