Thanks for the 15 lapper guys :D Man, that was hard! With increased tire wear and fuel consumption and pit stops for every 5 laps or so it really keeps up the intensity in the game. I would love to do some more of that.

James, I think you can keep the tires for 2 x 5 laps, but then you are down by 30% on the front right - and that is something you can feel  15 laps would mean 45% wear and that's way too much imho.

Also, we did about 9 liters per lap, so we should be able to do 6 laps on a tank and not 5, and have 6-7 liters to spare.

Using the program I also noticed that we need about 1½ lap to get the tires up the average temperature, so it take a while before your new tires does you any good - so using worn tires which instead are warm does make some sense. I don't know if we can chose other types of tyres in game?

Also, front tires are much more worn, so I think we could scrape of a few seconds of the pit stip by going for them only - rear tires are about 7% wear pr. 5 laps, so I think they could do a while race and still be acceptable, at least 10 laps.

Yes, very interesting racing.  Far more strategy than I have ever seen before in a racing sim.  Dave Baker, a newbie to online racing and only his second attempt on pro settings did very well.

I am quite impressed. He stayed on the track all 2 x 15 laps and only had minor skids. Not much red mist there, I must say. And decept lap times as well - loads of 1:57's

Is GTL getting more interesting now? Could this tempt a resurgence in intrest?
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

James and I are driving one or two 15-lappers tomorrow evening, probably around 8 GMT. Dave might be there as well, and whoever drops by (usually 1 or 2 random drivers). So we are only about four-five on the grid - but drop by and try it :)

Please note: each 15-lapper takes about 30 minutes and with increased fuel consumption the handling of the car changes for each lap (espceially when leaving pits with fresh, cold tires and 120 pounds of fuel I drive like crap...)

We also talked about trying the GTR2 cars on Brands Hatch, so you might want to download them in advance. And they are so darn cool on Brands :flirty:

Yes, its great fun.  I'm looking forward to tomorrow.  Dave should join us tomorrow as well.  I think the GTR cars are probably too much for him at the moment but we had a great couple of races last night.  I had some pit issues which cost me dearly but I'll get those sorted out.  There was some good close racing between Del and myself.

Yeah. Even if you have the pit limiter activated, don't just floor the pedal. You might get a stop-n-go anyway.

Man, I am not sure I can keep during these durance races, they are wearing me out  10 minutes practise, 5 mins qualy, 30 mins race and all that times two in one go. Phew!

And in the future, let us keep it private if we can get enough on as you said James. I was working my way up to second by clean, fast driving and when no. 1 entered pit and I got in the lead temporarily he gave up and left <_<

One good thing though - noobs joining in Panteras can't beat Alfa's in a durance race due to their crap mpg

We could have done without mr. J Bono in all respects.... he drove James off and James warned him. "Someone ramped me, so I ramp him!" Bono so articulately replied. Then James said "Well you also rammed delan up the arse on the straight even though he was in front of you..." and then he started talking about _all_ red alfas had hit him during practise and eye for an eye, so he would ram 'em all. Sheesh... We need to sort out that kick thing. Does not work!

If you are having an endurance race on Thursday [10th], I'm definitely up for some of that.

The server is set for that and James, Duncan and Dave might be there. Take a look on Thursday

I'm not online on most Thursdays.
