When I'm not being a sad, lonely game player, I've started to going back to doing something I used to when I were kid, like. Aye. Whippets.

It's only a couple of inches long and will probably make me go blind doing it.

...I used to build those little plastic models, though not to terribly high standards. I found a new use for all my old models when I decided that shooting paper targets just wasn't quite so interesting... re-building (sort of) the shattered plastic models as best I could for the next round of lead :devil:

placement of the decals on the rear fenders....they should be on the opposite fenders, with the 54 on the right (when viewed from the back) and the eye on the left. Also, that triangle on the side was apparently only used while doing exercises in the UK, not in NW Europe.

I'll disagree about the unit number, but yes, the shape may well be exercise only and not operational.

I never made vehicles like that, I was more into making model planes. I fonud that if you were practised you could spray the thing with lynx dedorant or similar (making sure to get sure to get a significant amount in the engines) and then light it, then hold it at an angle and push it onto the pavement as it melted. If you did it right you got a really nice "sculpture" of a crashed plane, with soot streaking back from the blown engines and everything, and if you were careful you could make it so that it still balanced too.

I had a line of 5 or so along the top of my wardrobe. The best one was a fully painted and decal-ed up Lancaster Bomber, which id made look like it had skidded along on it's belly and one wing after one of the engines had caught fire.

Aah, happy days, the snap of plastic, the smell of glue, the screams of pain as the needle you heat up to make "bullet holes" becomes too hot to hold, the amazement when someone tells you about pliers to hold hot needles.
