Right built it up and it was quite easy to build...the I.C.E heatsink is quite fancy. Installed windows and im getting graphics glitches   XP also keeps wanting to close itself and send messages to the devil.

My other sytem now sounds like a tank driving  :? but looks pretty  :D
Question:- Why on the cathode do they make ONE wire too short to reach the switch that you put on the front  :(  :(  Bast@rds.
Also with these 4 led fans i didnt need the cathode as when u turn it on it you hardly notice  :x  :x

Oh well money well spent  :D  :D

Off to ty something else .....SP1 then the local skip  8O

Stryker

you have to give the cathode time to warm up.  Mine takes about 15 mins.

I've got the 4 led fan too.  I find its a nice alternative to the cathode when I'm playing on the pc in the dark as the cathode is rather bright..... well now its on the rehostat so I can dim it down anyways :-)

Well.........SP1 didnt go well!!!
It now boots goes to windows XP screen then reboots continuosly bugga bugga bugga. Gona have to try and reinstall XP again..Not happy :furious:  :end:

Anyone had similar probs with installs????

I will try see if it gets brighter Stryker.

At least the system does seem quicker with the extra RAM in "1 gig"

Things to check:

0. Try a logged boot (press "F8") and see what was being loaded before the restart (remember to pick normal start next time or you overwrite your log)
1. Latest Motherboard BIOS?
2. Latest Drivers for nForce etc?
3. ACPI settings?  XP can be very picky about ACPI on some boards. When installing XP when you get to the screen that allows you to press a function key to choose SCSI drivers then you can also press F7 and pick normal system as opposed to ACPI system. (may be worth a try).
4. Set BIOS to safe defaults before trying to tinker with settings?

Then there's always "not installing SP1 at all" you could try....works for me :-)

and what's F 8)                                                   Oh F8

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Also noticed that the memory stated 430 odd meg rather than 512 or more on bootup and XP is showing low 400's so the next thing is to do is try some memory from my other PC and see wat that shows

Cheers Blueball i will have a look at them also

have you got 2 sticks of memory or one?

If 2 then remove one and try with 256mb.

NB some boards (and mine is one) can accept double sided memory in only certain combinations of slots. eg, my boards allows double sided memory in slot 1 and 2 or slot 1 and 3 but not slots 2 and 3. I can put single sided memory in 2 and 3. The reason for this is that the cheapskates have reduced the control lines to those slots to keep the design simpler. The net effect is that if i put 256 double sided in slots 2 and 3 then I would get 1 x double sided and 1 x single sided at best (ie 256 + 128 = 384Mb which is 393mb in BIOS speak)

stryker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLZ DONT RUN YOUR CATHODE ON ANYTHING LESS THAN FULL POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

at best this will break it very quickly at worst it will catch on fire or shatter, both of these will destroy your whole system!!!!!

this is one reason why i chose the switches as cathodes damage VERY easly.

Stryker

eh?  but on the rheostat site they suggested running the cathode on the variable voltage control.

Do you have any info to back this?

PS thanks for the heads up.

i got a warning with my fanbus switch controller thing saying that running lights on anythink less than full power may cause damage and that the peeps i bought it off will not accept liability to and damage caused to the system, + i chatted to a few modders about it, its something to do with the current having to go through the inverter and how a lower current or whatever effects the way it inverts oooo i dunno i was just told not to do it, i didnt understand the explanation

Right...
I had to re-install XP again but this time i used the 512 pc2700 samsung (Expensive) memory (that i bought for my full system) rather than the twinmoss (cheap) memory and it went through sweet, and so did SP1.
At this point i thought that it may have just been a seating problem or initial bad install so i replaced the samsung with the twinmoss and go back to the Graphics glitches and turning off and restarting itself, so it is definetely the Memory.....But at the request of the lovely Overclockers i needed to Download "Memtest86" to check the memory out and guess what .........After 3 and 1/2 hours it hasnt showed any problems ...anyone want to guess what overclokers will say next

I guess they'll say something like ' its not the hardware but the incompetent nincompoop chimp that hasn't got enough brains to fill an egg cup'

Not that i would say that(but let me tell you a secret  - loads of others in the clan would & do- but i defended you Smite to the bitter end. I sacrificed myself for your honour - you know you can trust me. But due to my honourable upbringing i cannot reveal those heathens who bitch & would defile your good name  [cough] Oldie[cough cough]   :o
That Squirrel looks Impressive

Thx mate i always knew you were my buddy.........

BTW u need to see a doctor about that cough it sounds a bit oDD

Overclockers want me to test it in another PC and if it is OK then they will not reimburse .......bstrds

make sure you test it in a PC with same motherboard as it could be a prob with compatability.
