Legendary drops have ALWAYS been exceptions, so that example doesn't compare.

It's not purely cheering him up, the dkp isn't just a number that says someone has priority or whatever it means they've ALREADY spent their time to save up for an item, if they're gonna use it in raids great, if not, well it's up to them, they've handed over time, and should be able to receive an item they want.

I'm not very good at illustrating what I mean I think, people don't get given money IRL because they're GOING to work, and hopefully use that money in a way that may help their company, they get paid because of work they've ALREADY done. He's already earned the items, and imo has passed because he was being nice, and is now being penalised for it. All this kind of thing will do is force people to take what they can get as soon as they can get it because you might be denied it later.

Furthermore, you can't just reduce it to 'cheering up a soldier' the very fact he has the highest dkp shows that, while he may be a soldier now, he's already saved/worked/passed a hell of a lot or is that meaningless the instant they can't meet the raid requirements now? if so, why not just zero a person's dkp as soon as they get demoted? The same as if they leave the guild.

Unfortunately is does compare and the difference in reaction shows the problem.  Change the item then, let's say Ass candy.  Same thing, same logic.   Hmmm, same problem?  And this was not an exception to the rule Umbra, it was the rule.

Notes Umbra's post edited after my post, hence some comments out of order.

Now there's an idea....... :boxing:

I hear what you are saying Umbra, I agree with the sentiment of it, but in terms of raid progress I do not agree.  You immediately said legendary is different, but why?  I used an extreme example because it forces you to look at something in a different light.  Would you be happy to see an ass candy go AWOL?  If the person is retiring their character what on earth benefit will they see in upgrading their equipment from Tier 2 to Tier 2.5 when all they are raiding is UBRS/Strat/Scholo?  On the other hand a tank in AQ40 up against the Twins or C'Thun might very well benefit from it and the raid will most certainly benefit from it.  And that's the point.  I am not denying the effort or value any one person puts into the raid, but there comes a point where you draw the line otherwise ex-members would still be spending their DKP in our raids.

Soulbringerx

Well i think both (TL and Umbra) have a point here and i can understand why i didn't got it. But standing there when it happend after all this effort i put in was a little hard thats all.
I cooled off a bit so no worry's if TBC comes in januari all of our hard earned gear will be useless anyway it only makes the proces of grinding xp a little easyer when lvling from 60 to 70.
Sometimes i make a fuss when its not even worth it stupid me
and even myself has to learn to shut it sometimes and count to 1000.000 before taking any actions. :g:

I think it's easier to compare the loot with a company sending an employee on some sort of training for whatnot, thrown in with a “bonus night out on the town”. Would the company chose to send a new employee on this training, or the old one that has served the company for 20 years, but just quit the job two weeks ago? It’s quite clear who would need the training the most, even though the other one has “earned” it.

I have no problem seeing that Soul feels a bit betrayed, tho.

I have to agree... the two sides has very good points. Historically Soul should've had it, but looking forward its probably better for the raid that the persons that will be in the raid (active guardians) is the person getting the items

Anyhow, its sad to see SoulbringerX go, and i hope he will be back when he realises that he misses us too much :)
