The officers have given their agreement to organise a second and final MC speed run as a sort of 'good-bye' to L60 raiding before TBC comes out.  The run will be organised for the beginning of January (exact date to be confirmed).

Need for Speed - Part Deux will be open to all members and the sign up website will be used to see who is available and to select the best possible class balance for the speed run.  Your Allakhazam profile will be used to assist with selection for the run, so go and update your profile NOW!!  The raid will be posted and sign ups open as soon as a date is confirmed.

Raid Target: The last MC speed run cleared MC in 1hr 24 minutes, but we think there is a bit more time we can save and that we can go a bit faster.  So we'd like to beat the current World Record and clear MC in less than 64 minutes.

This is not a Guardian Only Raid:  Speed runs are not normal raids, so the class balance in the speed run raid will be a little unusual and some classes will have far more in the raid than usual, others less, so please do not assume that you might not get a slot.  The last speed run had Guardians, Defenders and Soldiers in it and remember that some people can and will drop out or not show up on the night.  So please sign up anyway!

Preparation:  If you are selected then you will need to pot up.  A separate post will come along in due course confirming the sort of preparation that will be required.  This is just to warn you in advance so that you can start preparing and farming for the pots etc so that it is not a big cost just before the run!

Loot Rules & Gold
Apart from the fact that the MC speed run makes you a tidy profit from the gold drops we will operate the same loot rules as last time.  This resulted in members of the speed run getting over 40 gold returned in the mail some days later once items had been sold.  The loot rules are subject to confirmation, but this is the starting point.
  • The raid will NOT be stopping to distribute loot.  Each member is required to deal with loot on the move.
  • Loot will be set to GROUP LOOT
  • Loot level will be set to RARE
  • ALL members will PASS on LEGENDARY drops.  Before the raid the FMs will have appointed someone to receive the Legendary drop and that person only will roll NEED. The nominated raider accepts that if they win the roll then they will have DKP deducted for the item.
  • ALL members will EITHER PASS OR NEED on EPIC drops.  By rolling Need the raider accepts that if they win the roll then they will have DKP deducted for the item.
  • ALL members of the speed raid will PASS on any BLUE item - these will be sold with profits going back to raid attendees to offset potion costs etc
  • The RL will appoint a Disenchanter to Greed roll on all Epic items.  All Nexus crystals from the run will be sold with proceeds returned to the raid members to offset potion costs etc.
  • All other items may be picked up by raiders, but ALL items should be mailed to Guildybankee for sale with proceeds again being returned to the raid members.

Need For Speed - Part Deux is going to be a great way of saying goodbye to L60 raiding before TBC comes out and I very much hope that we can use this opportunity to create a small piece of SOG history.  A new World Record would be awesome

Ladies & Genetlemen.  Whilst doing a bit of MC research I discovered that we need to set a new target.  It appears that last month someone did MC in 57 mins 44 seconds, so that is now our target time.

See it here.

As I was browsing the DnT forum, there are rumours on the forum for a MC run below 50minutes... :P

But rumours are not official.....

Anyhow, it's still nice to down MC faster then our current record..

Wouldn;t call them rumours, someone said "are you going to do a speed run and clear MC in sub-50 mins to kill time before TBC?" and the answer was a fairly clear 'no' I thought?

No TL, as Soulbringerx was at my place last tuesday we had the discussion about the speed run for MC. As I read up on this post again, there is stated that it is 64minutes, but on the progression thread you posted the following:

1 hour 24 minutes 46 seconds

That seems like 84 minutes to me. I think I just won a crate of beer from Soul :P

Edit: Not quitte correct from me.....the world record is (mentioned in first post) 64min, not that RG1 did it in 64 minutes. But the crate of beer still stands..

Aye it was the Axemen 64 min (old world record) that I was referring to in the post, not our own previous record time.

Sweet :woot2:

Definetly gonna try be there for this one - and I will ofc spec back to full resto for this event, perhaps even do it a couple of weeks in advance, so I get some practice with tree form :)
But during the x-mas lan, I'll stay feral, cause I'll be grinding lots, saving up money, and hopefully also join in on some ZG, so that I can get the last bits  I need for the head/leg enchant!

Looking forward to this!

We're looking at the first fortnight in the new year.  We will be trying a couple of new things, so I need to talk to COmmanders about trying them in the MC raid the week before to check they work!  Dates will be confirmed ASAP.
