Use WF4 on right hand weapon and WF3 on left hand cause they don't share some cooldown. Not 100% sure how it works, but something about the different ranks not sharing a cooldown. Using different ranks enables you to get double windfury procs instantly. Throw in SS and you have a nice opener...with some luck.

Happens rather often and kinda fun when it does. Insta-killed a rogue in AV with it once, he even got the jump on me :)

Sandrion

Oh nice, handy for PvP. I assume it just increases your burst damage, but not your overall dps, right?

sitha

Well, from what I can see you get more dps not just burst. But there is a lot of theories running around and I'm no theorycrafter. My impression though is that I'm doing quite a lot more damage now, but I have also gotten better attackpower, crit, tohit etc lately.

Sandrion

I think I know what happens. Usually you get 2 extra windfury blows per 5 hits on average, for each hand. But it's not possible for windfury to proc of itself (duh), it can proc of any other hit or ability. When you're using a lower rank of windfury on your offhand weapon, your mainhand windfury can proc of one of the lower rank windfury blows since it sees it as a hit from another ability.

So basicly you're now getting a 40% higher chance on a main hand windfury proc. You will however sacrifice a bit of attack power on you off hand windfury blows, but it will increase your main hand DPS by approximately 12-15% (depending on the amount of AP you have) :learn: . Expect an increase of about 10% in overall weapon damage.

Needless to say the burst damage this offers is fantastic for PvP. Use it while you can; it will get fixed at some point, I don't think they intended this behaviour.

sitha

Yes, but I also think there is an issue when you have the same WF on both that they share a cooldown, which they shouldn't imo.

Anyways, we'll see what happens. Having loads of fun with it now, outdamaging just about anyone I team with with comparable gear/level.

Windfury doesn't have a cooldown. It just adds a 20% change to get two extra blows per hit (with increased AP). It doesn't have proc/min mechanic like certain enchants and SoC have. Its proc rate is independant for every weapon. They just can't (and shouldn't) proc of eachother; like this 'exploit' causes them to do.

Nefertem

Hmm.. When it procs there is a 3 min cooldown on it, yes? and the thing is that if you got rank 4 on both weapons, the cooldown goes for both wether its intended or not.
But if you got a rank 3 on one and a rank 4 on the other, the cooldown doesn't go for both, so it can proc on one of them, and then during the next 3 minutes the other one can still proc.
That is how it works atm.. Dunno which is the correct one, but im quite sure thats how it goes.

Sandrion

Nope, there is no cooldown. It adds a passive bonus that gives a 20% proc change on every hit. Check this for details: http://www.thottbot.com/?sp=25505 (note the cooldown field).

What Sand said. I have Windfury on dual weapon, and i've had it proc twice in a row on 2 strokes of the same weapon, with attack speed of 1.80, then proc on the offhand weapon the *following* hit, so any cooldown it does have will only be the 1.5sec global one.

That link is for casting the windfury spell, not for the proc itself.

Oops, you're right. I meant to link the passive effect: http://www.thottbot.com/?sp=33727.

Don't know which effect you guys are talking about (WF totem or WF weapon) but afaik WF has a built in 3 sec CD.  Basicly if it procs (main hand or off hand) there is a 3 second "no proc" timer.  Also, duel WF is only effective if you have two slow 1Handers.  If you have a slow main hand but fast off hand, flame Tongue is the better choice for OH and WF for MH.
