I think Doc nailed it on the head about Assault really, a very poor TCS map imo.

Compound, Chateau (however i don't really like it nowadays) and Prodigy i'd say would be decent maps to readd, although Chateau and Prodigy for Ts used to be very hard to get the bomb sites at times with the restricted access and if well defended. I always enjoyed Havana, i know lots of people didn't however.

i don't think we need to change maps :)
i like it this ways...and i'm getting better every time i play on the server...

as for train... i really like the map... i don't know what you're fuzzing about, but train is actually a good map :)

There are better versions of Assault but that means custom map which means ppl will have to download them.

It really is a hard map to play, true, and maybe not suited for boomer, but it should be able to qualify for meathook. I always liked to play it. and i go to other servers who do have it.
 
I do remember the hosties being saved a couple of time, but only after a real rush. or a very delayed action, where some of the t's are allready fragging outside the building. Tough this didn't happen as often as most other maps. On the other hand a bomb goes off way more often then that hosties are saved. I don't say the hosties at f.e. office get no resqueing. but the map mostly ends in a dead side anyways.
 
And about train, well you allready know how i feel bout that map.
 
Maybe its nice for people that they don't have to download maps on this server. But maybe a few new maps won't hurt. I mean if people come more often they don't have to dl them again. And if the maps stay on the cycle long enough, then people that return after a while longer still don't have to dl it.

As I said before. There are better assault maps out there. We have had various versions of assault in the rotation throughout the years. The original though is not good for TCS. Tbh I think the map would be not very fun to play on MH either. Why? Well, everyone will play TCS. Ts will camp out the 4 entrances and after a while it will be 14 CTs vs 6 Ts when Ts have won every round. This imho is not what we are looking for in a map.
 
I understand that you don't like train as I for example don't like Cobble, but that doesn't make both those maps bad TCS maps. The idea with Boomer is not only for us to get a game but also to introduce new players to TCS. Hopefully they will enjoy the experience and join our community. I don't feel that maps like e.g. assault or port are good maps to do that on. Especially if admins need to constantly put out admin messages and slay/kick/ban people. I don't know why some maps just turn out to cs-deathmatch but they do. First contact with TCS should be as good as it possibly can.
 
Regarding custom maps we did try to have Boomer with 50% standard maps and 50% custom maps. It didn't work out at all. We learned from that lesson and have cut down the amount of custom maps.

I do remember one map though in CZ which I was pretty happy with as both T and CT. Can't remember the name though.
CT's would spawn on the left bombspot, T's on the far side right. It was a pretty dark map with an underpass/ramp and  few routes to the bombspots with in total 3 real chokepoints. I hope you know which one I mean and hopefully there's a CSS-version of it.

Havanna was good as it made the Ct's tactics (and the T's) change with the wire fence being open some rounds and not others. The Hossies were rescued a fair bit too. (again a bit tough to admin though)

What about including some tried and tested customs i.e. Office extended

Assault is a crap TCS map. But its root problem lie in how we act as attacking CT.

There are a number of hostage maps that often suffer from CTs not  communicating and coming up with tactics. Office and Italy are always the same, as CT everyone runs off and its like a death match. The only difference being Ts are restricted to half the map.

It's almost like if there isn't a token (bomb) to show who should call tactics, none are called (depends on whether more senior/vocal members are on).

I think its maybe more a confidence thing and leadership is something people often shy away from. I speak from experience :)

That would depend who's talking, if Albert, whitey or Thulsa are saying something then my brain needs to translate what they're saying in to English then Dutch (or subtitles might be usefull). :winkiss:
 
I sometimes like to call tactics but it depends who's on my side and if anyone else is calling it allready.

I fully agree with Sadako on the Assault issue, the map is really bad for TCS, i like the map alot, but dont think it should be on the server..
Port i used to love, tho it also has 1 major prop, that we usually end up with a spawn to spawn sniper war at times..

:ranting2: Sorry I ever mentioned cs_assault. It won't happen again, judging by the number of posts I can tell its upsetting to talk about. I am sure a spell of counselling would probably help!

I personally do not want this to become just another thread that is lost is forum space. :blink: As a collective of members - THE IMPORTANT BIT - I hope we are a step closer to influencing the dMW Leadership into reviewing the Boomer rotation. The possibility of introducing some different stock maps just makes me want to deliver my papers in half the time. Thoughts on a postcard. Here's to hope! :norty:
