Go watch it. I must say it is impressive.

I saw this a month or so ago with Chimpboy (I help with taking backward people out for the day. It helps them with their therapy and tries to get them to reconnect with society)

I'm amazed that no one has done this sort fo film since Blair Witch. of course now there are a whole load of cash in movies doing the same thing. Cloverfield was pretty impressive though. The camera work was just about spot on. It looked like genuine home movie footage without being a complete mess and making me feel sick. Within the limitations of the way the film was shot they did a pretty fine job. However the cast were with only a few exceptions pretty unpleasant. They were all rich kid Manhattan socialites and i didn't care much for any of them. If they had been people I actually liked I think I would have been much more interested in their plight. Also the monster was a bit 'seen it all before'. There wa nothing very original about it although it was much better than Godzilla.

As Sadako says it is a good film and worth a watch. try to see it at the cinema if you can 9and if it's still showing) as it does look great up on the big screen. Blair Witch was more intimate and was a better watch on DVD at home. Cloverfield has too many big explosions and helecopters to do well on a TV screen.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Interesting premise, liked it but I thought that they really rushed the end for me.  But yeah good killer of time.

I was a fan of it in the cinema, it was somewhere in the middle of a horror and a comedy. (Monsters brought the horror and the cameraman and he's crush brought the humour). Worked well, camera work was pretty good, and the level of action was about right...nobody trying to single handed do impossible things (a few foolish things though).
7.5/10

You’ll all no doubt be glad to hear that I have returned and be waiting with baited breath for my in depth and edgy critique, well here goes:
Cloverfield was great whereas Blair Witch was crap.

Sithvid

Like the look of Cloverfield, will try to watch it a cinema.
Blair witch didn't work for me as I actually wanted them all to die especially that annoying girl. If you don't relate or empathise with the main characters you don't give a sith what happens to them

Saw this this afternoon.
Good movie and as the others said, a few foolish things.

Seconded.

Yup, excellent film... Not much else really.

Apart from the camera work, I wasn't particularly impressed to be honest.

I saw this for the first time today, I was actually quite impressed, spot on with the godzilla vs blairwitch, it also add a little 'war of the worlds' mix in there, I did get a little camara sick (and i never have before) but defo a worth while watch! 7/10 (I'm quite strict on my scoring) :D

I actually hate that  hand-cam stuff, thought the movie was too waroftheworldsish, thought the characters annoying,  the sets fakish, don't see what you guys are all raving about - this film moved me to the sickbag...sorry

Haven't had many posts lately, but this one I just had to add something to.

I agree 100% with Browne. The story was thin, the acting was poor, the so called "monster" was a joke, and the camera style was just stressing... But that's just my :2cents:
