Yep, dunno why. I find short tracks bit boring... unless if they have some especially fun place. The eau what's it, is quite fun but the slow part before the pit entry is not.

I fear that if the number of racers is high the long race can become painful. In the end most of the racers must have been lapped at least once - not fun, when you have to constantly watch out either those who you have to lap or those who are lapping you.

Well, let's hope all manage to end the race in one piece and no discos. Good luck all. :)

Doorman

The replay is up for them wot is interested.
My report: Started ok, drove several laps and made a few places. I then settled down into some sort of rhythm and fancied I was catching OB. He's bound to make a ricket at some point, thought I. Then, at the 20 minute stage, I was lapped by Willi. I don't know what overcame me but I foolishly thought I could stick with him through Eau poop! how wrong can you be? Whilst 'recovering' I was passed by everyone including an old bag lady pushing a fully laden pram! I carried on for another 8 or 9 minutes but the continuous blue flags sucked the will to live right out of me. Sad to say, I spectated at 30 minutes.
Was I glad I did? Yessiree bub! I witnessed the most fantastic racing between Deetz and Venca I've ever seen! Brilliant stuff. :yahoo:I needed to go get a drink but couldn't drag myself away.

I know what you mean. Just what I was fearing when you are having 1h race in such a short track and 21 cars. :sideways:

Actually I was both lapping and being lapped. It sucked both ways. Twice at least I lost a place because I was slowed down by someone and the guy behind me caught me and was lucky enough not to been slowed down (at least not that much). On the other hand I felt that those being lapped suffered equally and had hard time to do any racing. Which proved to be true later as I experienced it myself.

Qualifying went fine for me. New PB and so...was 5th or something like that, can't remember. The race start was not so good. Lost 2 places in the first lap. Especially when I took the 1st corner too carefully.

I had tweaked the tyre cambers and brake balance so that there would be very little tyre heating. That worked fine and the heating really wasn't the problem. I felt that in the end when the tyres had lost some of the rubber they were having worse grip. At least they had a habbit to lock in braking to the 1st corner and I actually went to grass or wide few times. That could also be because I got tired towards the end. The track and car required me to tap the throttle button in about every corner so at the 30 min mark I was getting cramps to my finger. Dunno which was more the problem but at the last laps I was sailing left and right and was quite happy that the race ended.

On the plus side I have to say I was having quite good racing with many people especially in the beginning.

Good job everyone who had power to finish the 60 min carousel ride.

Romus

I enjoyed every second of the race. I'm quite opposite to Aquilifer: now the coming week is a bit boring considering that it's very possible that you can drive all the race without almost meeting anybody. This is perhaps because I feel that I can be quite a competitive in qualification if I just get enough practise, but in the race the track is changing all the time and you have to change the approach to the corner depending on how others are doing. This time the 60 minutes race really meant 60 minutes of racing. Sometimes it is 3 minutes racing and 57 minutes of solo driving, hotlapping.

I've set up my new NAS server, let's see if it works: Race Stats:

Works for me Romus, the lap by lap progress chart tells a few stories.

Doorman

I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed the stats. Hyvä työ :)

Yep, like that my performance dropped really bad from lap 49 onwards. Without that I would have been 3 places higher. I wonder if I could buy sort of a bod...erm... finger building device. :g:

@Romus
Sorry, but I really can't see the logic behind that. Is it racing if you lap others or that someone is lapping you? (by racing I mean that you don't race those people even lapping belongs to racing) If somebody manages to pull e.g 30 sec gap to others, I think it doesn't matter is it short of long track. Except in short track you are 70% of laps in some sort of a traffic jam. Often it just messes both drivers' driving. The AS1 was ok for 10 lappers, but 1h was pita in my opinion.

Seany

I had an enjoyable race. Unfortunately, a coupe of my usual comrades in racing had some bad luck. Andy, Romus, Vobler. But none the less it was fun and I had no controller probs or disconnects, so I count myself lucky :).  I Just about got away with not being lapped also, only just though. :D

I dont mind having to get passed back markers, its all part of racing and makes it more interesting imo.  Although, I can understand being lapped repeatedly might not be the most fun experience.

Congrats to victors and participants :thumbsup2:

Scratchy

Good race for me, I actually managed to lap someone for a change.

Thanks for stats Romus - I came top of one list :yahoo:

Deetz

#11
Well, I thoroughly enjoyed the race. :D

After sitting in position 3 in qualifying for most of the session with a time very near my PB, Dee Slider pipped me with a couple of minutes to go. :sideways:

I held my position off the start and followed Dee for a lap until I managed to squeeze past.

I was then pleased that after a week of Venca beating me in the short races, averaging a couple of tenths a lap quicker than I could manage, I was able to slowly close the gap to him.

The rest of the race was basically me trying to find a way past. I eventually managed to pass him as he made a small mistake at about the 40 minute mark. I then lost a second or so on the next lap where Venca pitted, as I got used to circulating on my own.

Over the next  4 or 5 laps where I tried to build a gap to stay ahead of Venca after my pit stop. I had seen the balance of Venca’s car getting better and better as the fuel load came down so I didn’t want to leave my stop too long, in case running without the pressure of me behind him meant he would speed up.

I came out of the pits and Venca and I where side by side down to Eau ****, where we both backed off slightly to give room to the other and ended up banging wheels, Venca coming out ahead.

The rest of the race was spent chasing Venca down again. I managed once to get along side Venca once, but I just could not find a way past. Ending the race just 0.63 behind.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, absolutely flat out out the whole race. Only one minor off, great stuff. :yahoo:

I must say thanks to all those being lapped for being very good getting out of the way.

And here is my angle:

Had a fairly uneventful race, but not to say I didn't have fun! Because from last weeks early retirement to this finishing was a world of difference.

Yes, I got lapped a lot, but I also lapped a lot myself which went very well. The only scary point was wen Venca and Deetz were about to lap me. Try finding a point to let them pass without ruining their great race (judging from then spectating doorman's lively comments about it) was very difficult and it was the only time I felt a bit uneasy because I really wanted to not get in between that. Yes, Willi was winning, but the fight (and possible loss) was elsewhere.

I pulled away from Oldbloke fairly early in the race. He luckily converted back to mediocre level :byebye:from last weeks alien status to give me a race. The last 15 minutes he was gaining on me. I was being lapped by aquilifer, and he was being lapped by Iron, but then Aqui unlapped himself again as Iron became slower and Aqui's pace suddenly also dropped. But to a point that they were driving around each other in different laps and actually holding me up. Not their fault, but because I'm not a fan of unlapping myself with the possible concequences of that, I stayed behind them, watching Oldie get closer and closer.

But time was on my side again and I crossed the finish line before he got dangerous (which seems to be always at the end of the race for me)

My final position was 11th and as Oldbloke said "the first looser" becuase there are no points after 10th. Thanks mate!

Anyway, I didn't look forward to the race after last weeks, but everyone was brilliant and I only messed up once and didn't even spin the car more then 90 degrees. I'm still pleased! :)

(....that my competition didn't score any points either)

I guess you talk about the last laps? Iron had lapped me, but then he had some problems. At first I let him go first, but his speed was so slow he was actually holding me back. Because I didn't know how close the next guy behind me was (I had my hands full with the car and couldn't check the time diferences), I decided I can't stay behind him. Normally I wouldn't race people who have lapped me.

I don't give rat's ass about the points. Besides they make no sense if people who don't race regurarily get them too. (the point is that e.g. some LX expert joins only for races with that car affecting the points table). ...at least give them only to dMr members - a 'carrot' to get certain people to join the team? doh :norty:

YEAH!!! no dMr - no points *shakes fist* it's no good being cool by association.

(This has nothing to do with me jumping four places and into the top ten)

EDIT: Aquilifer, if you don't want your points, can I have them?
