I would keep it as it is. Snooze, you loose I guess. Seriously, I can't see the benefit of kicking none-winged people. If we start doing that we will only make annoyment and problems. Some people might start to make angry posts and fuzz about it.
If you have the access to the password, you have as much right to join MH on a friday night.
The only thing I can think of to "solve" this problem is to restrict MH and its passwords etc to bravo or higher ranked members. We could make it as an official rule (rules change), and that way we are rid of no-winged players on MH.

On a personal sidenote tho, I think this also would make some problems, but I think its better than start justifying kicking people because of their ranks to let people with wings in. I wont go so far as calling it discriminating, but people will react to it, no doubt.

And the two server thing didnt work out as well as we had hoped for.

I appreciate what people say about being fair and not discriminatory but working on that basis, we may as well do away with Bravo and Charlie totally and have no structure as that in itself is discriminatory. Opening the LAN to Charlie members first is Discriminatory. Having a private section in the forum is discriminatory.

Making Friday nights Bravo and Charlie only would only be discriminatory if Bravo was an elite club that restricted membership. That is patently not the case. There is nothing to stop Alpha members getting Bravo and pushing towards Bravo as a goal (Yoshi, for instance has already been mooted for Bravo - but he lack of activity in the forum stopped it).

It's fine to say we want to encourage Alphas to come join the community more, become active and ultimately Bravo members. Making Friday nights Bravo and Charlie members only just enforces that and works as an added incentive imo.

I'd like to know how many people regularly play on a Friday night and therefore how many can't get on.

Well, if we are going to do kick alpha/bravo members then it must be stated both on the forums and on the server that they might have to give up their slot for a Charlie member. The extension of that is that we need to review how active charlie members actually are. It might lead to moving a lot of charlies to bravo. Fair is fair right?
However, I don't think this is the solution. First served is the only fair option. If you want to play get your butt on the server in time.

Regarding the LAN it is a completely different story. It is twice per year and at a specific time. I think there is no problem to have Charlie as the first pick there.
MH is available every day if you put in some effort.

No one is suggesting that we physically kick members who are playing off the server to make way for others (which is  not fair or right to do).

I thought that was what was being suggested.  We talked about reserved slots for Charlie/Bravo, the way that works is that people not in the reserved list would get kicked from the server to make room.

AFAIAA, the only idea mooted is to change the password to MH on a Friday night and post it in Bravo Section so that only Bravo and Charlie members can access the server.

There's no way we can physically kick people off the server - if that were me I'd be hacked off and I can imagine most people would feel the same.

I'd missed that suggestion in your last post.  Most of the discussion mentions kicking people to make way for Charlie/Bravo.

It would make it harder to get a game going on a Friday and could end the evening sooner if it's restricted with a password.  You tend to find that Alpha members are keen and jump on Boomer/Meathook quickly once a game is going.

Fair enough. As I said, I don't tend to play on Friday nights as we usually have people staying or go away so I don't really know the dynamics of it.

Out of interest - how many non-winged players play on a Friday as is? I don't suppose it's more than 3 or 4?

Usually 2 to 4 untagged players on Friday although some weeks there is nothing but tagged players.

I also thought we talked about kicking people off the server to make room for people with the wings on, and the password thing was only a suggestion from my side. I mean its better to restrict the servers to bravo members or higher than to actually kick people off the server.

But again, there is just as many pros and cons on this matter, that I would think that we should stick to it as it is. For now.

So....leave it as is. Like the idea of redirects though, once full we roll over to the other server.

I often have to wait, unfortunately kids prevent me from joining for the whole night from 7pm.
