NIC x 2 - can you do it?

Will _what_ work? The software? I shouldn't think it would care.

The switches will be 100 full duplex, so your 10/100/1000 should be autonegotiated down to 100 full duplex anyway.

Ok. Is it the same cables for a 1000/100/10 NIC as a 100/10. No I don't have a 1000/100/10 NIC but I was thinking of buying one.

AFAIAA the cables are fine, but there is little point in getting one unless someoen else also has a Gigabit NIC at the other end AND you are connected along the whole LAN path via Gigabit ports........
