Dewey doesn't see to have any issues with it.  Gets called a cheat a lot though :)

My point is, is it realistic for an LMG to have a sniper scope on it? I have no first hand knowledge of course, but it doesn't seem likely does it?

LOL - I use the red dot sight on the M604e (or whatever its called)  because the standard sights obscure your LOS and make it very difficult to see the target- I love that gun :huggy:

Doorman - I don't use a sniper scope the red dot is used for quick acquisition of targets IRL - not for sniping - it doesn't have a zoom function.

I used to use the MP5 the most, then the Skorpion, but now predominantly M604e and G36c. It really depends on the map. Whats everyone else using?

Bro - you knifed me again last night - I feel like a pin cushion!

Sorry you were standing still with your back to me.  I didn't want the dishonour of shooting you in the back!

Oh dear. At no time did I say it was you Dewey. I do know the difference between a red dot and sniper (ACOS?) scope and it wasn't you using it. In fact I use the red dot on an LMG myself.

Lol no worries mate, like you I find it difficult to understand why you'd use a zoomed scope on a LMG.

Someone wanted to know why I use ACOG on the M60, several reasons, but it does depend on what perks you have chosen, if your going to be up REAL close and REAL personal, maybe a grip and steady aim are better. But here are my reasons for equiping the biggest gun in the game with an ACOG.
1. The M60 on HC mode does not need anything like stopping power, double tap can be interesting.
2. The 1st round fired from the M60 is very accurate.
3. The ACOG allows me to pick out people from distance
4. Gives better area awareness than the iron sight
5. The reflex sight can be very nice, but to really use the M60's power/range to full effect, I feel the ACOG works better for my style of gameplay.

This can be a bit of a wildcard using the big MG and ACOG, but it sure is alot of fun bringing that kinda firepower to a game. :woot2:

Doorman, my friend, it is almost commonplace for large MG to have some sort of optical scope, the British Army use scopes on the .50BMG, you see, heavy MG like the M60 and .50BMG (which, i know is not in CoD4) have considerable stopping power, even over range, to zero-in/acquire tragets over long range (several hundred meters) you need some sort of optics. Sorry, if you knew this, I dont want to sound patronising. Try and find some footage on youtube or something of REAL soldiers using such weapons, you will probably find they are using optics a fair bit, especially on vechicle mounted MG's and at checkpoints, that sort of thing.

I dont mean full blown sniper style scopes, which, might have 10 or more times magnifaction, ACOG, and ACOG style optics will have somting like 1-6times magnifaction.

Oo, I've have a new friend. :sideways:
