Stuart, am I right in thinking you've been involved in the previous code testing(?), does this mean you have a contact(s) with the devs? If so perhaps you could ask them to consider these parameters in the revised interface please? Especially as it mimics the real races and they keep saying they want realism in the sim.

I had a look at the options too Ron and I can't see any way to do all of the above either. I think you should be able to loop the race with or without reversed grids/ballast, the options appear to be there but I couldn't figure out how to do it, I just kept getting extra SESSION's added? But I'm pretty sure there's no option to do a grid by previous finishing positions.

I've looked at it all ways up. Posted a plea on the GPC forum and got zilch. So how about this for an idea. I start the server on Wednesday evening at 7:30. There is a 10 minute 'wait time' Then the race will start, presumably with a random grid. :g: 15 laps of close, interesting, hard fought and clean racing later I restart the session and it will be a reversed grid, also with a 10 minute wait time.
The problem we have is that nKP can only have a reverse grid on a 'race only' server. So no qualifying. Unless I/we go to the trouble of qualifying, everyone leaves server while I reconfigure it with the names of the qualifiers. That, I can tell you, ain't gonna happen! :flirty:
So, to sum up:

Server starts at 7:30 prompt.
There will be 10 minutes for you to get your manure in one place
A race will ensue. At the end of that, after saving the replay:
I will restart the session and there will be a second 10 minute wait.
Race number two will start with reversed grid.
You will all then wait with bated breath while I sort out the winner

It will be necessary for those of you on Ventrilo to shout "Save the replay" at me.
This MAY work.

Can we get a bunch of us together this evening to test the feasibility of this? It'll have to be fairly early because I go out clubbing on Saturday nights!

The new format looks fantastic as initially described, but the limitations due to the software may compromise it. Maybe a sprint race (4-8 laps) and then main race (8-15 laps) would work better with nkp? Is quali impossible to combine with the reverse grid thingy?

I participated in a sprint race in LFS yesterday (3x15 laps at Blackwood Reverse) with reverse grids for race 2 and 3. It was terrific!

I think the sprint format could be a great thing for nKP as well.
