Quote from: spoong;283224It's not the connection (although 7 Mbit isn't great for an ADSL2+ connection, serves me right for living 5km from the telephone exchange :), it's the limits the likes of megaupload put on you.

If you are able to RAR them all and put them somewhere I can get at I'd be most grateful, having done a few offline runs I'm interested in racing in this mod for sure... :)
Why do you feel you have to do them all at once? Just download them as you need/want them. In addition, most, if not all of them have alternative links. Mediafire has no limit for example and rFactorCentral has it's own link (the one with the rfc logo next to it. Besides, bunging them in one .rar will be a gig!

If Joe is planning on racing on the server it is better to have all the necessary tracks installed at once, rather than getting kicked out every time a track comes along that he doesn't have yet.

I just checked and all the downloaded tracks I've got make a total of  1.3GB. That's a bit large to upload for me, as my upload speed is capped. Would take me quite a while. Plus, a great number of those I have never even seen on the server so it would be pointless for me to upload them.

However, the "official" dMr server only has 10 tracks or so in its rotation, correct? Is there a definite list yet? If so, would someone be so kind to point me to it so I can just upload those tracks for Joe?

EDIT: I'll tell you what, Joe. I'll just upload the 4 tracks that will be used this Friday in Doorz' Tour of America. That way you can get some practice in on those and hopefully join the fun on friday evening.

Alright Joe, you can download a 198 MB .rar file that contains the 4 tracks needed for Doorz' upcoming Tour of America  here.

Now get practicing! :boxing:

Most grateful.  Downloading as I type. :)

One more thing, and I guess this is off topic slightly, but how do I unlock all the cars?  It looks like Rfactor (and therefore HistoriX) has some sort of single player "win races for money to buy cars with" thing going on, but I want to drive the Porsche 906 now now now! :)  Is there a simple fiddle that I'm missing?

spoong

d'oh!  you just select them and start the session. :)  Sometimes asking a question inspires you to find the answer...

You will need money to buy certain cars and upgrades. The easiest way to do this is start a race session (offline is ok) and type in 'ISI_BABYFACTORY' in the chat box, when you hit return it won't actually show up in the chat window. Then just exit the session and listen to the cash register ringing away!

Some cars will remain locked until you have enough racing experience to drive them, to get round that (and get cash) find your userdata/playername folder on the c: drive and edit this file (backup first)

ANY_DEV_ONLY.cch

Look for these lines near the top and type big numbers in -

[CAREER]
Experience=2147483647
Money=2062421821

Also each 'series' mod you install will have it's own .cch file with the same lines so edit them too.  :D

Thanks Mark - I guess all this is old hat if you've seen rfactor before, but this is my first look at it.  Thanks again to Oliver for putting up the files, and sorry for my impatience overall. :)  Hope to see you on track Friday...

You're most welcome.

One more tip: remember to buy the "adjustable steering ratio" upgrade for every car you drive! That way you can... well... adjust the steering ratio :rolleyes: That's definitely necessary if you want a good driving experience. The default steering lock in the Abarth, for example, is a measly 10Ã,°. Which means lots of turning the wheel for even the slightest corner. I suggest setting it to 24Ã,° - 26Ã,°, that gives a good feel for most cars.

Also remember to set your steering wheel to 900Ã,° in the profiler (assuming you've got a wheel that can handle that).

Nordschleife 2007. There was some confusion over which version to have. The link in the 'Tracks etc...' is the definitive one. Absolutely superb! :dribble:
If you have 'The Ring 2007' in your locations folder it's the right one. The .rar file is 'Ring 2007 v22a'
It'll be on the server this all week

I've added two more tracks with direct links to Mediafile. Birmingham (Alabama) aka Barber Motorplex and Lime Rock Park (with patch)  Quality is good, yeah, yeah, iRacing/laser stuff, but they're free! :D

If Mediafile doesn't suit, then suit yourself :) Lime Rock and Birmingham RFC pages.

Great! Long awaited fantastic little Lime Rock is GO! Now that you've added them, everyone go here and pick texture updates for both tracks
Makes lime rock look much better!
There is only one file you need to replace.

Exchanging or editing textures DOES NOT cause mismatches.

As long as they don't have freshly painted kerbs. :)

Huh, it never came to my mind to tell you about SLN's textures.
My brain needed sort of trigger, which was pulled by 'lime rock' words.
I remeber few years ago when i dled it, i tought that it looks awfull. And then sometime later somehow i got to sln's site..
