A question to the compF@H1337zors, I have 2 CPUs on this computer, can I use this in some sort of way to Fold more (think I read something about dual core thingy whatever). If so, how?

And new people to the forum, start Folding, it good for mankind! It almost seems that I'm the only one lately adding FoldingMachines.

Install a second copy of the client in a different folder and configure it to run as a different "Machine ID" ie if the first one is running as machine ID1 make the second one machine ID 2 when you configure it. The log files will report what machine ID it is running under.

Additionaly, if the box is running Windows XP and Hyperthreading is enabled, you could have four instances of the client running.  Two per physical CPU.

Go to Task Manager > Performance tab.  If you see four graphs in the CPU Usage History you can run four clients.

No can do Doggers, it's a computer from work, the boss doesn't want me to mess with to much stuff on the computer. I got F@H aproved because I explained it to him what it's all about, otherwise it's: If it still works, DON'T mess with it.

BB, which downloadversion of F@H do I need (LINK). I've installed the version 5.03 now. Do I need another version?
Also, any more tips on how to make the 2 ID's? I'm now @ work so I'm a bit busy.

Thanks, Pete

I wouldn't put 5.03 on as it's the graphical client and has processor overhead (i.e. slower folding) associated in showing the pretty pictures.  I use 5.02 "No-nonsense" text-only console version.

:withstupid:

Use the console version and choose the option to run as a service during installation.

Create four directories (I use FAH1 - FAH4) and put a copy of the console version into each directory and rename it (optional but it helps track what process is doing what).  Then from the cmd prompt enter the name of the program followed by -configonly.

If I get some time this week I'll try and go through an install and grab some screen shots.

I write down everything I want to remember. That way, instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it is I wrote down, I spend the time looking for the paper I wrote it down on.
