I have a spare 2Gb disk for that Athlon if all you want to do is to use it for folding then it should serve OK. I'll ship it with CPU and memory for server if you want :)

and again

OMG............

ru a millionair or summin????
LOL - no Sheepster, far from it...

This is the work PC I mentioned before in this thread. I was just updating this equipment thread with its details. It was four years since they last bought me an upgrade, and I was in line for the next box coming in to the department.  The fact it was this highly specced, and my boss didn't claim it, was a pleasant surprise :)

The XP2500 box is my home PC.  About a year old now, and does exactly what I need it to well enough.

  • XP2500 Barton - 512MB PC2700 - XP Pro
  • XP2600 Palamino- 1GB PC2100 - Windows 2000 Server >>New<<
  • XP1700 Palamino - 256MB - XP Pro
  • XP1700 Palamino - 256MB PC2100 - XP Pro
  • XP3200 Barton - 1GB PC3700 - XP Pro
  • Plus a borged neighbour's machine - specs unkown and only part-time (it is turned off at night).
  • Plus my sister's Pentium III - circa 800MHz but unsure.
I have *still* to add my 2.34GHz overclocked XP1700 machine to the farm.  Sheesh, I ought to get round to doing this sometime.....

The XP2600 replaced an XP1800 and started folding for us last night, so I should see a healthy increase in points per week from that machine :D

I also have, waiting in the wings, a Dual PIII 550Mhz server, a P4 2.0Ghz server and a PIII 1.0Ghz server.  These will be brought online as I build them over the next couple of months. :D  I am hoping to use Linux for at least one of these machines and will let you know how it goes.

Also due shortly, some new 2 x P4 2.8Ghz machines which are being bought for the business - they will of course run F@H 24/7 just so I can do *coughs* overnight backups and virus scans :D

All bar two of the machines have now been upgraded to Version 4 of the Console client with -forcesse flags added to enable SSE.

I have finally got around to adding my overclocked XP1700 machine to the farm   I have downclocked it a little to make sure hea tis not an issue but it should still much quite a few points each week

I am waiting for a VRM for the Dual PIII 550Mhz server and also the OS.  I decided to run Fedora as suggested by Stryker - I'll keep you posted on my Linux F@H exploits!

I have a further and as yet unbuilt a P4 2.0Ghz server and a PIII 1.0Ghz server which will also be added in due course once I know Fedora a little better.   I also have two new XP2600/2800 machines bought for our business which will be up and running on 1st June when we move into our new premises.

All machines run the Version 4 of the Console client with -forcesse flags added to enable SSE.

Here's an update on the F@H Hardware inventory for my borged army.  Unfortunately a number of these machines are offline at the moment due to BT not providing a broadband connection when they promised to for my new business premises.  Hopefully they'll start to come on stream again during this coming week, but expect my ppw total to drop heavily (as it already has done) and remain low until then.

I have a further and as yet unbuilt a P4 2.0Ghz server which will also be added in due course once I have the time to put the various hardware bits together.

All machines run the Version 4 of the Console client with -forcesse flags added to enable SSE where available.

Thanks to Thulsa_Doom giving me back three of the PC's I'd borged they managed to fold over 8600 points in the last week so you'd better get the rest of your folding farm back online TL  ;)
