I haven't tried the demo and there are definitely glitches but nothing that detracts too much from the game.  I would expect more patches soon to take it to the standard it should have been at release.

thought the games yesterday where superb, but i have been playing the game since it was out so i have spent time playing the training missions and learning the keys which does help somewhat, you do need to put a great deal of time into this game as all the reviews have stated, its not a pick up and play like cod ect its more of a sim, which is no bad thing in my book, the graphics are superb but are not sli at the mo, so a beefy card is required, the new nvidia patch will fix the prob.:D

So for us sinister types it's a no-go then. WASD is just too close to where I have my mouse to be comfortable when playing a fast paced FPS. I normally use the numpad or, if I desperately need many more keys in close range, pl;'

There are glitches in the game, but nothing compared to before the patches. The game is getting a lot better.

And Blunt mate, this game is more of a simulation. The difference is like comparing Live for Speed with Need for Speed - simulation vs. arcade. So no COD, CS or BF2 straight-to-action here.

In ArmA you are often killed without knowing wherefrom and often in one, or a few shots. You might lay there for a while, waiting for a medic, but if he does not show up, you will bleed to death. If the medic heals you, you might still only hump about if the leg is damaged, but you will be able to walk etc... You don't shoot much in the game, but when you do it can be quite chaotic and you really feel "him or me". It is also often at range.

You try to have the rest of the team arranged as good as possible, but often you just can't spot the sniper, or you get caught in a big square when an APC rolls in.

This game really gets your emotions going.  One of the missions we played last night was all to do with stopping a convoy and getting the trucks to the air base. We had to clear the village and set up an ambush.  We got into good positions up on a hill and spotted two enemy soldiers in the village.  The communication was some of the best I've heard in any FPS I've played, with members of the squad discussing the situation and tactics and calling the target.  We took the two guys out with confirmation of kills from squad members before an enemy sniper started shooting at us.  I could feel the tension and adrenaline rush as I ran for cover with good comms again, trying to locate the position of the guy and work out what to do next.  I don't even want to start on what happened when the tank came into the village!

I'm looking forward to having another go at completing it and maybe trying out more co-op missions on Thursday night.

Whitey that sounds great!

Its good you can save a coop mission halfway through - so you don't have to rush the game.

Zootoxin

I just need to try out (my mates version) on my machine to test whether it will run.
If so I will buy :)

I haven't found that option yet, we're runnning a dedicated server.  Does it do it automatically when all  players leave?

Dewey

Sorry from your post I thought it sounded like you where coming back to a saved game tonight - my mistake.

Sounds like fun.  Hopefully my steam copy will go live for tomorrow.  What sort of size of AI groups are you guys going for?  I have played a few different version from the usual team death match (which was actually very enjoyable again because this is not run and gun) to full coop on the demo.  The settings for the dedi server seem to have huge range of variables.  The only downside I can see is the limited number of people in coop.  It makes me wonder if the same problem will occur as with L4D once you have played the same maps so many times will they get old.  I know the is a few hundred square km of terrain to play on so here's hoping it doesn't get old.  Once the mod community get hold of it PvP will improve as well.  Looking forward to getting on.

The biggest COOP mission I think I have seen is for 50 players. we have a 20 player one on the server at the moment. As the missions are generated by players it should never feel predictable. As once we crack one mission, we go on to the next. This is a bit like FPS raiding.  the wow'ers will know what I am talking about.

People have mentioned the demo. I can't comment about it's problems. But this game is going to be at it's best online with like minded people. This should be the thing dMw do best.

Quote from: Doorman;280786I got the demo and gave it everything I could. I still couldn't get a satisfactory keyboard setup.

I gave up and got rid. :sideways:

decided to download the demo first before jumping straight into the game and quite glad i did.
the demo finished downloading last night and then spent half hour trying to remap keys :sideways:

i can see what your getting at Ron, every time i rebind a key then i have a conflict with the new key and have to rebind that and then that conflicts and so on.......

will have another go tonight and see if i can get the keys something near playable as the game looks like its worth the effort :)
It is better to stay quiet and act the fool, than to say something and remove all doubt

no peanuts

Downloaded the demo last night, have not checked it out yet.

Will go through the tutorial missions, and then hopefully join you guys.
Does the Demo support Multiplayer mode?  If so, how do I find you guys?

Blunt

I got the demo and eventually got it going yesterday.
for some reason it wouldn't run from my 2nd hdd and wanted to be on the c: drive.
Anyway, it runs, just about, on my machine and I had a shooting lesson and parachuted into the sea.
It became clear that I don't have enough fingers to play this game:sad:
I may have to try this with a normal keyset and not my z-board.
Regards
Blunt

I have Steam running of my D:\ drive and had no problems installing the game there. :g:
