Quote from: Benny;287236I've been updating it for the last 2 weeks and no bugger has talked any smack....c'mon, man up, let's talk football.

Defoe - England hero or flash in the pan?
Liverpool - One man team?
Man U - Had their day or timing their run?
Arsenal - Can anyone really support a team named after a bum?

Dafoe's always been a good forward & with a manager like Harry that's gonna make him feel like the best player on the planet he can easily be top scorer & the man too partner Rooney for England.

Liverpool, 2 man team I'd say, I don't see them managing to do much if either or both Gerrard & Torres are out for any time.

ManYoo look light to me, I'd like to see 1 more CM & CB, Hargreaves would fill the CM if he ever gets fit - he'd bring a bit of steal that there missing, Ferdinand's getting broken too much these days & the constant chat of Vidic wanting to go play in the sun & not the rain of Manchester doesn't seem to be going away & with only Evens as backup, it's not so good.

Arsenal will be ok till a team works out that if you tightly mark the midfield & close em down they havn't got a plan B.

.........................

So, Foster, next England keeper or has his shaky performances so far put that in doubt?

Can Spurs keep it up, or will they fall apart after xmas?

That's all I got for now.

Dewey

Hull fan - pleased everyones written us off (again) this season - we have more firepower than last year in Jozy Altidore and Ghilas, plus back up for defense, a better midfield and bullard will be back in September - I think we are good enough to stay up again this year - but it'll be close again.

My concern with Spurs is they might fall apart once someone realises that you need to attack them. Although, can't complain with top of the league!

Someone pointed out this morning, there's a lot of dross in the premiership now...
Birmingham
Hull (fish)
Stoke
Burnley
Wigan
Bolton
Billericay

So with that lot, the Spurs should be fighting for Europe this year. A strong center defence and a couple of wing backs and we'll be there. I'm not sure about Ledley playing every other week, it doesn't look quite right.

Benny I know your relaying someone else's points but you obviously endorse them and I have to take exception with this type of elitism - calling those teams dross is very blinkered and ignorant.

So how do you expect teams to improve? Its tough establishing yourself in the Premiership.

Do you really want the same old teams in season upon season?

Lets not forget Spurs where languishing in the bottom half of the table for much of last season - have won nothing for years and have virtually no chance of winning the premiership in the near future.

So how does that differ from these dross clubs you mention? Spurs are no Man U or Chelsea and I'm sure you'd react where one of their fans to regard Spurs as dross.

Spare a thought for fans of these 'dross' clubs' - who are living the dream and having their 15 mins of fame - don't begrudge them that and lets also not forget these dross teams are the 'wildcards' of the premiership - often surprising the big teams - Hull did it last year as did Stoke, this year Burnley are doing it.

Spurs thrashed Hull a few weeks ago and if you asked any Hull City fan they where privledged to be at the game and see Spurs put on a masterclass - having nothing but praise for Spurs fluid attacking play - surely theres room for all different styles of play and the reality is some of the clubs in the premiership aren't ever going to be as good as the long established ones but they have earned their right to play there - whether you or others think they are dross or not.

I'll just step down from my soap-box and I await your considered response :narnar:

Aw, c'mon Dewey, you must have noticed the fishing comment in brackets knowing I'd drag you in here.

The fans of the clubs that make up the premiership are what keep it going. If I was a 'lesser' team supporter I'd be extremely chuffed to watch my team take a big scalp and finish mid to lower table. I know the smaller guys have no chance, it's all about divisions within the division.

You have the top 4, you then have the European scrap, then the mid table battlers and finally the 'you're getting relegated unless you're lucky' guys.

I think it's the guys in the middle that have my sympathy. As a Tottenham fan I live on the European fight which we always promise and rarely deliver.

How to improve? That's a really difficult one, as I think everyone must see, money is the answer. You have it, you spend it, you win. Is it that simple? You may get a run and a few wins but without depth of squad with decent players in reserve you have no chance.

Personally I'd rather the likes of Wolves, Stoke, Burnley & Hull (not fishing this time) were in the league as opposed to Southampton...

Change is good, but I'd like to see someone come up, stay up and compete but as you say, how do people get better?

Quote from: Benny;295037Anyone care? Thought not.

Care? No. Interested? Yes.
My performance is like that of Lpool - plunging into the abyss.
My team is full of crocks, suspended and dropped players. Sell one of the muppets and he scores a bleedin hat-trick, loads of assists and thats just the goalie.
Buy a 'good' player and the booger becomes a lazy, stupid ne'er-do-well who has difficulty standing up.:ranting2:
Ne'er mind ay! Theres always next week :)

Jamoe
