Fantastic! :yahoo: I'll have a look for that server when I'm online.

Just had a terrific offline race against the AI at Oran Park.

Quote from: The Moose;288114In the controls setup bit, change the FFB from 100 to -100  (or vice versa), that should sort it.

Thats wrond approach :g:
You better do press "Right Ctrl" and "Numpad 8", and then microsoft sam will upset you with his "voice" :narnar:

BTW or maybe BOT (back on topic)... Tried the car, so far only normally aspirated. Brilliant stuff!
A race maybe, someday? :norty:

I edit the realfeel.ini. Put a - in front of MaxForce At Steering Rack. Having said that you made a seperate install didn't you? For anyone with one install and all the mods in it. My way is the way. That way you won't have to keep altering the FF from one mod to another.

I can't get over how good this car is! Friday night definitely has to be Supra night! :yahoo:

Yeah, this car is an absolute blast! The more I drive it, the more I enjoy it. I can't seem to finish a lap around the 'Ring though  I don't know the track at all, and memorizing it isn't really easy :g:

But man, is this fun :woot2: Having spent some more time in the Turbo version I definitely like that one better, now. Only thing I don't like is that weird noise when shifting up. Like the car is sneezing. Anyone know what that is? You'd think it's a blow off valve but I get it when standing still as well.

I don't suppose Tim would be interested in creating a series for this car over at R2P? That would definitely rock. The limited (and realistic) setup options would ensure that everyone has a more or less equally good car :boxing:

Yeah the Ring and its 173-ish corners is a PITA to learn :)

The noise - the sound from the turbo spinning?

No, it's not the turbo. I get it even if I'm just standing still and don't apply any throttle whatsoever. Whenever I shift up I get this "sneeze". Doesn't happen when shifting down, though. And, it doesn't happen while driving if I shift really slowly, ie. press the clutch, let the revs drop all the way down and then shift. Which doesn't make sense because like I said, I do get it when I'm standing still and the engine is idling :g: Don't tell me that I'm the only one who hears this :sideways: It's very distinct and very obvious, you can't miss it.

rFactor uses separate files associated via appropriate file as shift sounds. Usually there are separate three different upshift and downshift sounds, which one will play upon up/down shift is chosen randomly by game engine it seems.

Again usually, these sounds really sound "mechanical", like some metal meshing with other.
But... In case of turbo-equipped cars, modders usually don't include some mechanical sound, they rather put few different sounding blow-off valve sound samples, which is to be expected to be found under the hood of the high perfomance street car like supra.

Go to D:\SIM\Niels_mods\rFactor\GameData\Sounds\SUPRAMKIV
and listen to these:

   Supra_upshift_1.wav
Supra_upshift_2.wav
Supra_upshift_3.wav

If that is what you hear, then there is your answer. If it annoys you, then you could edit .sfx file - the one which defines all sound effects associated with car.
Go to D:\SIM\Niels_mods\rFactor\GameData\Vehicles\TOYOTA\SUPRAMKIV

open MKIV_RZ_SOUNDS.sfx

and look for "VS_INSIDE_SHIFT_UP_1".

If you want to remove the sound completely, add "//" in front of every "VS_INSIDE_SHIFT_UP_x" line, or alternatively, remove the .wav file name at the end of the line.

Also, you will see value "0.75" right behind "=" character. This is volume multiplier, you could decrease it to make the effect more subtle, rather then loosing it completely.

Editing sound files DOES NOT cause mismatches.

Great post, lovretta, thanks for the help :yahoo: That solved it :D I don't know who created those sounds but that doesn't sound anything like a car shifting up, IMO. :g:

Glad it helped mate!

Here is your answer on that that doesn't sound like upshift. It isn't even inteded to sound gear-box like - read again :)

EDIT. Due to this increased size letters this post could sound bit rude and like i'm am shouting... That is not the case :) It's just to highlight what i wanted to explain..

Wow great mod, tried it this afternoon :)

Had some problem with the reel feel plugin (same as Oliver), but it seems to work alright with the right control + num pad 8 trick. :)

Yeah, had try of it yesterday myself.  I tried the non turbo version first and was a bit disappointed to be honest, very reminiscent of the RB4. Second gear is horrible no power, reving like crazy, then third is too high.  It just has no "go" and feels rather lame compared to historics.

But the Turbo, oooh yes, now that's more like it, you cant help but misbehave .  Excellent car!

I tend to like underpowered cars.. You are required to be super smooth with them, carry as much speed as possible without sliding through corners, there is no power to bring back lost time..

It' special challenge, to drive slow-ish car fast ;)

...not that i dislike the turbo :)

Couldn't agree more! :) I took the Supra around Northamptonshire today. It was just so much fun trying to maintain as much speed as possible through the first series of high-speed corners! Just flicking the back end around like a rally car, getting some slight four-wheel spins... just lovely! :D
