I feel for people running Core 2 Duos still for gaming, a Quad should slot straight in and be dirt cheap by now with i5s and i7 hitting sensible prices - though they might be on the rise in price due to limited stock if it's been left too long.

You are right though most MB that could take a core 2 duo should be able to take Quad q8300 - q9550 all OC well and easily and will get a big jump in a good few newer games.  I think the problem for the developers is a double edge sword.  People want games to use all the cores but then people with dual cores complain when they do.  Strangely console port are probably helping to use more cores as they are multicore setups but with crap 5 year old GFX :lmfao:

But that was years ago when we used to play BF2... everytime we go to the LAN paddy's pc has some sort of problem :)
