A wee bit of lag for me and others.

Some left because they had it bad.

I don't know what's going on, but something has changed from last week.

Whitey

There had been no changes on the server side until yesterday morning unless your admins had made them.  They were talking about updating sourcemod when we spoke last week after the CS update. Did that happen?

Boomer is doing the rubber-banding/laggy thing again, same as last Sun night.
Just informing you it is happening right now so you can look at it live.

Edit: we managed a few games with the odd bit of lag, but after 3 maps it got so bad people started leavng so we stopped playing.

Did you find out about sourcemod for Whitey?

Sourcemod has not been updated in the last 2 weeks.

EDIT: still dreadful this evening.

The last time we had these problems was when we were changing the server to 128 tick, I know we have been running 128 tick for a while with no problems but would it be worth trying it at 64 tick again? Just to see if it gets rid of the lag? at least we can then play whilst it's looked into

Not my call obviously but just a suggestion :)

Blunt

Thanks very much for helping make the CS:GO Xmas tourney a success.

As requested, we've tried Boomer again to see what it was like.

Started about 7.00 and it was excellent.

About 8.45 it started to get a little laggy and got more noticeable until we quit at 9.30

It wasn't as uplayably laggy as before xmas but noticeable.

We've had some problems with the GS server over the last couple of weeks.

I've opened tickets and they've been dealt with promptly and the issues (lagging and rubber-banding that was unplayable) have been fixed.

However, they keep coming back.

Tonight, although not as bad as the previous occurrences, was pretty bad (just about playable).

I have opened another ticket with GS and am waiting for response.

With our Boomer unplayable with no remedy in sight, and GS server unplayable every few days, if we're going to continue renting, would it be a good idea to look at a different host?

no peanuts has kindly set up a server that we all dive on to when ours goes wonky, but it's a PITA to steam message/invite all the players not on TS each time we swap.

We can fill our CS:GO server with dMw members and regulars practically every night, and to their credit most stick with us despite the server problems, however we do lose a few.

no peanuts and Pesteh are my techies (I'm useless at that) and they are trying their level best to keep us running smoothly, but the problems we are having are beyond our control.

Would be a good idea if we could re-visit the CS:GO issue and see if there's anything we missed.

Bluint, there is a response to the ticket you need to respond to or close.

We can try another provider sure, but we still have not identified the problems, or indeed had the provider identify them.   We have a period left on this rental, we'll try to move elsewhere in about 3 weeks.    Can I ask you to seek out your preferred provider to try please and let me know the details.

What's the difference between no peanuts server and ours?   Might be worth getting a spec list set up and make a direct comparison of hosting, hardware, software.

We were aware of the response.

I couldn't respond to it last night as I had to go out immediately after cs, and I wanted to get some feedback from others regarding the quality for them.

I have closed the ticket now as there were no problems last night.

Regarding pnuts server, I believe that it has exactly the same settings and mods as ours.

I have asked him for details and will post back when I get a reply.

Pnuts has got back to me and says:
QuoteIntel Xeon E3-1245HDD2x HDD 3,0 TB SATA Enterprise
HDD1x SSD 120 GB SATA
RAM4x RAM 4096 MB DDR3 ECC
OS runs on the SSD
16GB RAM
no VM's
csgo is running on the physical hardware.
I pay 50Euro a month
full root access
running ubuntu rather than windows, in-case that makes a difference

And he added, with ref to ours:
Quotethe server only really gets busy when people with access fire up their torrents
I still think boomer should be able to run just fine
it ran perfectly fine at 128 tick for a while, before something changed
I think the main issue with all these gameserver providers is, that it's all run on shared resources
we may get a couple of evenings of good gameplay, whilst other servers on the same host are not populated
as soon as other servers start to fill up, we start seeing an impact on ours

Hopefully he is already aware that the 'something that changed' was 'nothing'.

BA5 is not a lot different to his rental server, albeit not running linux:
Intel Xeon E3-1240v3 Quad Core (3.40GHz 8MB)
32GB RAM
2 x 500GB HDDs

Morning

Could someone have a look at the Arma server please.  When i login to the Admin web page and click the update button i get a "File Retrieval Failed" error.  Not urgent quite yet but there is a large update due for release soon.

Thanks
