Realized my Toshiba gaming (ish!) laptop is taking a while to start up n' shut down went into msconfig files disabled the toshiba bloatware stuff on start up much faster now, but is the bloatware safe to uninstall it or will it bork my laptop. cant do a fresh install of windows cause it came with win 7 preinstalled without a disc. Advice would be great

Only thing I found on Toshiba laptops of use was the track pad software for when I had no mouse, however it depends exactly what the software is that you're removing.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Nuke it all as you can just DL it again later.

Even touchpad drivers aren't essential unless you use the gestures such as scrolling. Lappys and PC's all work with native drivers so you can boot into Windows then update from there.

Might also be worth nuking any restore and boatware partitions to regain some HDD space.

Be carefull though. As most new laptops now arrive without any recovery cd's. Its all placed in a partition on your drive. And by useing this you end up back at square one.

As mentioned above, format the drive and use a clean win install disc. But for that it will cost you more.

Once  you have the drivers installed. Check in hardware properties for any conflicts etc.

This all takes alot of effort to get sorted. So i then make myself a custom win install using a snapshot of the system. To prevent doing this again. Loads of guides on the net to help you.

As said before most is removable

try uninstalling the Items one by one with a reboot and check everything is ok before removing the next (its a PITA but safer) make sure you have used the backup recovery disk maker

always try and make the media first as I know from past experience (Sony) charge around £60 to send out a set of recovery disks.

once you have got rid of the unwanted software then go find a imagining pice of software (i use farstone recovery) and make a full system backup so that you can always use this as your backup and not the Tosh one (saves time in the future)

once the recovery disks are made then you can blow away the recovery partition, as this can be put back on with the recovery disks if required on future (if selling for example)
Are you going to come quietly, or do I have to use earplugs?

If you are going to do it that way. I highly rate a program called revo uninstaller pro. Could not live without it. It not only removes the program but every file, folder and registery entry associated with it. Aswell as a host of other functions to keep your system running smoothly.
