In providence armor tanked turret ships are mostly used. All the corps I've been in have had some sort of PvP training and some suggested PvP fittings. To start out in PvP I would suggest training for T2 frigates. Interceptors and Assault frigates are relativly cheap and a good way to learn without loosing your whole wallet.

Setting up a basic skill plan in EveMon f.ex.

Crow (Caldari Interceptor)
1mn Microwarpdrive II
Warp Disruptor II
Stasis webifier II
Overdrive Injector System II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Austronautics Rigging (for speed rigs)

Interceptors are usefull and fun to fly in fleets. Their main goal is not damage but tackle, so weapon skills are less important. Here is an example of a loss I had recently. Btw, I did not charge at an assault frigate without backup, the Falcon pilot simply failed to assist after he told me to go for the point ;)

Autocannon Ares ftw :D. btw no room for T2 Nos or is the named better?

Vladic: I have a one man corp based out of Isinokka/Hajinen in Caldari space if you just want to get away from the corp Tax. You can also most likely have my Drake since I didn't pay anything for it :P

lol why do you just have a 1 man corp? lol surely ya be getting lonely on occasion lol and that would be awsome man, whats ure ingame name? mines Ceglar Enderas

and indeed the corp tax is rather heavy, also that i currently have to leave salvage behind simply due to loss of firepower is a pain

Me and Teni started a corp together. I moved my alt out of that corp and into Firestar. I think I know who gave you that drake Teni...

The corp was basically an alt corp for me and Varg earlier and it is to get away from the corp tax, getting a extra wallet and inventory ( that I could share with varg before he moved his character to his main corp). Also if our alliance/corp was war deced we had a safe place in high sec.

So what are everyone up to in Eve atm? The last weeks I've spent helping out CVA's alliance tournament team with training. A lot of fun and good learning to play around on the test server :) Unfortunately our team did not make it into the group stages starting this weekend. Well worth watching if you are into Eve, or space ships for that matter. Here is the link for the stream :)

Ive had to quit as due to the time required to make a profit and make the game worthwhile in EVE and the timing of my new job I aint got sufficient time anymore to justify the subscription heh shame really as it is a brilliant game over all but required a rather large time investment

Ingame funds have not been an issue for me after I started doing Incursions. As long as you can fly a battlecruiser or battleship you can join an ingame channel called The Valhalla Project, and join fleets there. They run fleets around the clock and you can stay in as long as you like. The biggest sites they run take about 20 minutes to complete and pay 31 million ISK. It's a very social and fun way of making money, and I much prefer it to my nullsec options at the moment. The sites are also being run in highsec, so you get to see and use shiny stuff you wouldn't normally see. You  may need to read up a bit on how to fly in a fleet and how to rely on Logistics pilots to stay alive, but I highly recommend it!

I've found this site useful for fittings and advice

That really sucks man. Work to live, don't live to work ;)

I had a new experience with Incursions last night also. Apparently I've been doing something right, as I out of nowhere received an invite to a closed Incursion community that only run with shinies. Was a nice change of pace for me, since I'm mostly in it for the cash. It is a smaller community, but their main focus is ISK per hour while still maintaining a fun social aspect. Since they consist of mostly veteran players with high skillpoint characters we had very little downtime, if any, between sites. Aligning out as the current site was about to finish, entering the next as the fleet landed on gate.

Also got to have a go at some site contesting. Basically two separate fleets in the same site. Only the fleet that did the most damage gets payed. This happens mostly in the smaller Incursion sites like Assaults and Vanguards, where fleets compete for the 'best' sites. Needless to say, the shiny fleet won all contests of the evening apart from 1 where the other fleet brought in extra ships just to beat us. Which kind of defeats the point of it, as they are reducing their payout by bringing more than the intended fleet size for the site.

I guess that is the fun thing about Eve. There is always something new to discover, and much of it is run by players. Lotteries, poker sites, radio channels and different communities. You can even rent your own team speak server for in-game currency.

This article was on FB earlier today, http://www.warpdriveactive.com/2012/07/11/things-mmos-can-learn-from-eve/
Many MMOs could learn a great deal from EVE and the methods of CCP and i really wish they would.

He missed one of my favorite things about Eve though. Consequences! Anything you move outside the safety of a station/outpost can and most probably will die in a fire at some point. You see major 'equipment' imbalances in PvP, because people don't tend to bring their shiny bits into a fight. A players definition of what is shiny changes a bit relative to income, but you generally only see the Officer mods on Titans, Motherships  and occationally on a flagship in the tournament.

We took a small gang out for some fun last night. With only frigates we set off into enemy territory. Here's a video someone made from it :)
