Aiming
Keep your crosshair in the torso-neck-head region all the time. Aim where you think the enemy will be.   If you do this you will probably get twice as many headshots as you do now and you will kill the enemy more quickly.   There is no point having your crosshair aimed the ground.

Put yourself in the enemy’s perspective. Where could he camp? What spots do you yourself usually prefer to be in when playing a specific map?  Place your crosshair where that position is before you turn a corner. If noise is not an issue then get an advantage by starting to fire just before you turn the corner!

Pistols
Crouching helps accuracy, but with these weapons its not all ways the best bet, often rapid strafing left/right will give you an advantage over a crouching enemy at close, and sometimes medium range.   As a pistol hit rarely kills first time it is important to hit the enemy as many times as possible in as short a period of time as possible.  So click that fire button quickly!

Shotguns
Stay on your feet and do not crouch whilst using this gun.   Aim for the torso-head area for maximum damage and remember that it is a close range weapon. Do not bother sniping with a shotgun! At long range you’ll get better results if you switch to your pistol as you will hit more and do more damage!

SMGs
Many players still crouch with these guns even though it gives no accuracy bonus! Stay on you feet while using the SMGs and keep moving!  Burst fire for long range and continuous fire or full auto in close quarters.  The world and his cousin seem to use the MP5 for its relative accuracy, reasonable fire rate and damage level, but don’t be afraid to try out the others.  For example, the P90 packs a real heavy punch in close quarter fighting and has a larger magazine with a rapid firing rate.   The Mac10 is highly rated by many and does a good level of damage albeit with lower accuracy at distance. Try the P90 or the Mac10 out in the mincer on Dust and you will be surprised!

Rifles
Crouching does improve the accuracy of some of the rifles but it’s a fairly linear improvement from running, to walking/standing to crouching.  Sometimes being standing it is more useful in order to get the view and leave yourself the option to strafe when under fire.

Burst fire is everything for most rifles.   Most players use bursts that are too long.  Firing fewer bullets each time increases your accuracy so more ammo will hit its target.

With the M4 Colt use 2-3 round bursts and rapid single shots with the AK. Going full auto with an AK is pointless even at close range. In case you haven’t noticed the M4 is more accurate with the silencer but you will do less damage. With the silencer on you generally need one more bullet for a kill in comparison to without it.

With Famas and Galil you should go for burst fire for long range and continuous fire or full auto in close quarters. A tip, do not switch on ‘burst fire’ as you might need to go full auto. You could be caught in the pause in-between bursts.

When it comes to sniper rifles, practice!  Aim at the head when using a Scout, aim at anything when you are holding an AWM!   Unless you have found the ultimate hiding spot from which to snipe, stay on your feet!   View players in first person view to learn how they aim.  Always be prepared to pull out your pistol for a bit of close quarters fighting in case the enemy appears beside you unexpectedly.

Addition.

Autosnipers have become very powerful indeed and is actually not bad unscoped either. Stay on your feet when using this weapon and run/strafe when moving. Avoid crouching or walking in a firefight as it will make you an easy slow moving target. Key is to keep firing and you really don't need to aim to well as each bullet will knock off at least 50 hp per bullet. ;) If you do aim you will get a lethal result.

Do not reload unless you really need it because the reloadtime is rather long. The autsnipers hold 20 and 30 clips respectively so when you are down to 5-7 shots then a reload should be in place. If there is time for a reload go for it!

I found out yesterday in the match that you will need to use a glock on the next way:

If an enemy is far off (like in aztec you are at the T's DD and a enemy is at the CT's DD) then aim low with a glock, you have a bigger change that you hit him very good even a hs ;)

If a enemy is not to far away from you then aim at his chest so that you get an hs. Don't aim at his head because then you will miss or you have to be very lucky.

If your enemy is standing infront of you then ofcourse you need to aim at his head to kill him fast ;)

Those are some nice tips Doc, i allready found out that a couple wapens per map have a bigger advantage over others.  But most of what you wrote is new for me, or i wasnt'sure about it. thnx :)

thnx, never really killed people with single fire with a glock. so i'm always forced to use burst.
I'll try this tip out, hope the bullets will hit their target for a change :)

Le Rouge

the cross does tend to go smaller when using SMG and crouching - doesn't it mean it's more accurate? (or is it maybe a new feature in CSS?)

On rifles it does but not on SMGs. It doesn't matter if you are standing or crouching with a MP5.
