You heard it here first (well 2nd if you count Guru3D).

Sweden are planning to tax LAN parties (or at least introduce legislation that would catch LAN parties under the current definition):

Less than 10 PCs - $400 tax
11-25 PCs- $1,500 tax
26+ PCs - $5,000 tax

They're kidding right?   I even checked the date, it's not 1st April, although why Swedish fines are set out in US dollars I'll never know.......

Yeh, I read this a week ago. Quite disturbing.. and not an example to follow for the rest of Europe. However;
In this matter, Sweden has definitions that differ in legal terms from rest of Europe. I thought; wow, our neighbours have gone mad. But the definition of a PC connected to other PC in a LAN is somehow falling under the same definition as a slot machine in a pub/supermarket. I think they will redefine it in the law pretty soon, instead of introducing this.. Atleast I hope they will. To evil to be true.

Tutonic

I'm going to go ahead and make a prediction - it'll cost them more to actually enforce the tax, than the revenue generated from it.

Completely pointless.
