Hiya,

Brother bought an OEM blu ray drive for his Windows 7 machine. Of course didn't think it won't have software for playing blu-ray discs...

Any recommendations on free software for playing them?

He's broke so free or off a lorry is best :)

Tutonic

VLC can play un-encrypted Blu-Ray discs without any issues, most movies are going to be on encrypted discs though.

You could try this method to get it working, but I haven't tried it personally.

You can use AnyDvD to decrypt Blu ray disks.  Then you should be able to view on whatever player you wish.

I previously didn't have a monitor that was compatible, so it came in handy.  As a bonus, it bypasses the draconian region locks.

Battle.net - LydonB#2167
