I liked the map. It has a high complete git factor (CGF). Me gives it 9/10 CGF. ;)
I see it plays to the Sadako's strengths ;)  Truly you are the the Lord of the Gits ;)

(Take it as a compliment, you git ;))
If I wanted you to understand I would have explained it better

Make sure to give a tour around new maps next time for where to go or not. If someone goes over a boundarie which he doesn't know, don't blame him. Especially if he got shot there by someone else on the same map before.

And maybe its time to actualy get rid of the old ones as the map list is rather long now......

I strongly vote for a return to the map voting system.

If we can get the http download for new maps set up I'd argue that we vote in a map rotation.

We can leave the official maps on the match server (or just the ones we match play). But at least one of the TCS servers should have a voted map rotation.

So says me  :)

Is this an outbreak of democracy I espy. Gets my vote (that is presuming we are not marched out and shot).

Yeah make those maps that we play for matches on baldrik and have many more custom maps on the mh as i like having dif maps get rather bored of playing the same ones again and again makes the game feel new again with new and interesting maps. Maybe we should have a weekly vote on which map goes out and which one comes in? But giving enough time to those to dl it so no one has to dl it from the server?

smilodon

The old system was quarterly. We'd play test several for a few weeks and then have a mass vote/arguement about which ones to add and which of the existing maps should go. It meant that no one could moan about the maps as it was democratic and we got to play lots of new stuff.

I can see that it might make our servers a little less accessable but we don't run a standard map rotation as it is.

So form a crowd and wave bits of paper in the air shouting 'fraternity and liberty for all' ........and stuff.

Having the option of maps is good. Having a server full of customs is bad. N42 struggled as the map-packs became unmanageable. I'd hate for that to happen here.

The stock maps do get a little monotonous, so perhaps a vote whilst playing is the way forward, but not overly changing the rotation.

AM I right in saying that after a map vote it goes back to the first in the rotation? If so you end up never playing the end maps.

To be honest, I can't really see this being that big of a deal anymore, now that the servers have been configured for HTTP downloads.  You don't have a custom map? You can now get it quick - none of the disconnect, search for the map, unzip, reconnect malarky.

I for one would like to see the AMX map vote at round end re-enabled.  It gives players, what is it, four options?  Could the options it presents be randomised to give three standard map choices and one custom for instance?

Although, even then we run the risk of still playing the same few maps (aztec/inferno/dust2) over and over and over...  :)

Map votes are as fraught with danger as servers full of custom maps.  It does encourage the same few maps to get played over and over. A standard map rotation is the answer, with a number of fixed standard maps that play to TCS strengths. Add to that a handful of custom maps, and I think we have the mix right.

My only issue is with the method of selection for the few custom maps.....in as much as there isn't one. As a community shouldn't we all be desciding on what the custom maps are?

Aye surely if we have say a maximum of 6 custom maps in the rotation, 4 (semi)permanent, then 2 that rotate? It could quite easily be handled by most metinx
