Got a retaliator :)

QuoteOn November 28th, we will launch the Anvil Carrack explorer concept sale.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Standalone-Ships/Freelancer-MIS-Anniversary

So you could melt the Freelancer + MIS upgrade and then repurchase it and get 2 years hull insurance which replaces your current 6 month insurance.   You can check the melt value by clicking the 'exchange for credits' button and it will tell you the $ value.   If it adds up to the $165 price of the new version (which it will) then you're good to go.

If the ship I melt is my original and only "package" ship, do I also lose the alpha/game access or the hangar, or anything else? Is there a way to definitively find that out somewhere from the officials? :-)

The package details are listed in the sale, the 350R Anniversary package for example has Beta Access but not Alpha, so I guess it's aimed heavily at those with additional ships.  I'll update my note on the separate thread.

Congratulations, man! That's one I would love, but can't justify with the carrack coming up.  I did upgrade my regular hornets to superhornets though - so the Idris is well stocked:

1 x Tracker hornet
3 x Superhornet

So far I've managed to keep my whole fleet LTI too, somehow. This makes me happy.

Galatoni

I'm going to try and hang onto it. Need to raise some more now. Didn't think I would be. But if the choice comes about I've got a redeemer to melt first. Need to do maths and do some accounting.

Honestly, I think every man and their dog's going to have a Carrack. The Retaliator is a lovely ship.

Galatoni

Is not what that I don't want one. It's just if prefer the Explorer aspect of it. In going to try and raise the cash. I might manage it without melting. :(

In which case, you'll have all the awesome.

Traded the LN in for the LX. Jump drive and 2 years Insurance were a good selling point and I originally pledged for the LN to be a fighter but I have the Super Hornet now which is a major plus. Kept the Package (thanks Gorion) so I have the second character.

Cheers Guys!

I was starting to think the same. It's strange how everyone is going for ships with several crew members but in reality most people play games solo most of the time. You'd think the Freelancer would be the ideal explorer given it's simplicity compared to the Constellation or Carrack.

The problem is, people have seen Firefly. Everyone wants the Serenity now.

That's why you need to recruit your wife as a co-op player like I did ;)

The rest of the slots will be filled by Jabba slave girls, or UEE coats with double laser pistols.
