Quadcopters anyone?

I was wondering if anyone does much flying?
i've flown the Q4 mini for few months (great way to entertain the cat btw) and thought about moving up to something better but wondering if there are better options than dropping a load on a DJI phantom.

We've just purchased a Phantom 3 Advanced for aerial surveys at work and it's fantastic! Had great fun flying at the local park at the weekend to get a feel for it.

Really stable platform for aerial photography too and with the ability to shoot in RAW and also the ability to bracket shots too makes it more than just a toy.

I've also been using a Phantom Quadcopter, although only a Phantom 2, for Aerial Work. Sadly though it belongs to the client and I only get to do serious boring work stuff with it.

To be honest I don't get to actually do much flying. The quality copters are supposedly easy to fly but I'm still rubbish. I tend to spend more time telling the 'pilot' where to point the camera and working on the resulting images at home. Not very glamorous at all.

Walkera are worth looking at on a budget, they tend to copy the DJI range and features in their £300 range.

Although to be honest mine has sat in it's carry case for about a year, it has orientation lock, GPS position lock, return home etc, the newer ones are also GPS waypoint programmable. But I haven't looked at anything in a while.

A decent gimbal for the camera is required for nice video shots though.

I have to say the station keeping and gimbal on the calendar is superb. It was quite a windy day on the day I took that video. Not too much that you can't fly, but enough that a normal copter would be blown off station very quickly!
